Re: Trouble in Paradise
75,000 miles on one shaft drive, the way your bikes been used. I'd say that's a pretty good life expectancy from a shaft.

Na, I wouldn't take china on a boys tour of the Alps!! Haha.
They were taken at a cafe where we stopped for that magnificent French coffee.
Cheers

Touratech handguards
Hi Guys, I have a set or Acerbis handguards on my 07 R12R, but they don't offer much weather protection. I saw these on the Touratech website and wondered if anyone has anyexperience of using them? http://www.touratech.com/shops/008/product_info.php?products_id=10957&osCsid=40f092ec6b06686af1288...

Re: My car gets better MPG than my R1200R
I don't actually know how many MPG i get on the bike nor in the car.
Who cares?
Its SOOOO much more fun on the bike.
Just tell your wife its more fuel efficient than the car, she'll never know....

Re: Anyone using SW-Motech Quick-Lock Tankbag?
SF, I had the same problem. I would fill up the tank, drive off, and stop a mile down the road having been aware of the smell of fresh fuel, only to find the cap not down properly. I resolved the problem by pushing the cap down very firmly whenever I fill up, and it has stopped the issue. It saves d...

Re: Autumn Alpine Adventure
Thanks Guys for the nice comments about the photos. I'm nowhere near good enough to be a pro, but am just a keen amateur. What I have found is that if I have a small quality point and shoot camera round my neck all the time, then I take far more pictures than if I have to dig out the big DSLR. So no...

Autumn Alpine Adventure
Our original plan had been to book an early summer jaunt around the western Scottish Highlands, but due to circumstances beyond our control, this was never to materialize, other than 2 individual, and rather lonely short breaks in the wet Scottish weather. So, the boys just had to get away for their...

Joe, don't sell the R, its been far too much of a good friend to treat her in such a way!! And its still one of the best "all rounders" there is out there. Here is the evidence, with my baby near the top of the Alps Julian http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6179/6253856678_d9fbecafe9_b.jpg 121...

Re: has anyone installed HID on their R1200R?
I made enquiries with BMW about getting it done, and they told me that the R12R would not be able to tolerate the load at start up. So I didn't bother.
But then again, BMW would say that. I know plenty of BMWs with HIDs, just not R12R's

tyre pressures for Pilot Road 3
I have just put a new set of Pilot Road 3's on my bike. When the guys put the tyres on, they were blown up to 2.5 front and 2.9 rear. The hand book doesn't say this is correct, but does the different brand affect the pressure? ie do I need different pressure according to which brand of tyre I'm runn...

Re: Advice for a week in the Alps
Bob and Dewi, thanks for the advice, and Bob, great pictures. I'm also planning on turning the trip into a photo shoot, so keep your eyes posted. Thanks for the offers Dewi. I'm not the same Julian from Cranfield, but yes, I am from Bedford, Harrold, more specifically. Its my 3rd European tour, I us...

Advice for a week in the Alps
Hey Guys,
I'm off to the south of France/ Switzerland for a week in the twisties of the Alps.
Anyone care to offer any tips or advice? (apart from the usual jibes and abuse that is....)
cheers
Julian
