Re: Should I get back in?

I'm fortunate enough to own both. Purchased my '02 R1150R new (just 57K currently) and found a great used and unmolested '98 VFR800FI (24K) a few years ago. Love the power delivery of the Interceptor's V4 but I also absolutely love my 1150R's boxer motor. The boxer has plenty of low end grunt and I ...

Re: a link to the quick disconnect thread?

I would like to bump this up if you don't mind, but I've been searching for any kind of advice on quick disconnects also. I'm going to get the chrome plated QD's from beemerboneyard soon, and was wondering if anyone had some instructions on how to install them. Installed mine from Beemerboneyard to...

Re: New Member - New R1150R owner - Nervous as hell !!

Excellent advice here from all who've posted. My 2002 1150R's odometor shows 53K miles. I purchased it brand new and have had no real problems so far . MINOR PROBLEMS: Very slight leak from a factory fuel clamp - since replaced with Fuel Injection screw type clamps. (I also replaced the ones inside ...

Re: I would like to try/buy a factory tall seat for '04 R1150R

I'll take it if it's still available. Have wanted to try one for a long time. I've got 52K on my '02 but would like to try for some more leg room - I'm 6 foot. Ordered one from Chicago BMW at least a month ago and I'd love to cancel that order.

Thanks,

Anyone Using a Pod?

Because it looked so neat, I ordered one (I believe from NationalCycle.com). When it arrived, I remember thinking it was kind of pricy for what it was. Plus, it had a huge crease across the top portion - spoiled the neat streamlined look of the one in the photos. The packing job they did was probabl...

Hi Temp Gasket Material to Protect Soft Bags

Prior to purchasing my used system cases, I had a nice pair of Chase Harper soft bags. I epoxied a rectangular sheet of high temperature gasket material to the exterior portion of the left bag and it worked great. The bag sat very close to the muffler but never caused a problem. I went to a local ga...

Main Line BMW Motorcycles, Devon PA = CLOSED DOWN!

Just read that Main Line BMW in Devon, PA has closed their doors for good! :( I bought my Roadster there nearly five years ago. What a shame! Yet another dealership bites the dust... I've tried to support Main Line as best I could over the years but that didn't amount to much money. Main Line never ...

BMW Boxer engine saves a life

I found this story yesterday on http://www.gizmag.com Wonder if it'll convince our administrators to upgrade from the Harley Davidsons my department uses? My wife and I have owned our red 1994 Miata since 1996 (second owners). Unless it's raining very hard, its black top is down. It's our extra car (65k miles). We absolutely love this Miata - makes going anywhere more fun. I'd love to upgrade the Miata's suspension and perform some other modifications...

Thanks for the compliment but my Roadster looks a bit different these days. Since this was taken several years ago, I've since added the BMW luggage rack, case rails, system cases, K-mirrors, a tank bag, steel braided brake lines, left side cam chain tensioner upgrade, AutoComm with bike-to-bike, ma...

Doh! I guess that explains a lot - such as why the brake line is so much longer than the one it replaces! I never thought of that. In my defense, there were no instructions in the kit (none that I saw anyway). I can't wait to go out to the garage and disconnect the 'valve' tomorrow and then hook it ...

Aftermarket Spiegler Brake Lines Question

I recently purchased a boxed set of Spiegler stainless steel braided brake lines from Kneedraggers . The $50 rear was, of course, one piece and simply went from the rear master cylinder to the rear caliper. Simple. The $150 front set, one long line and two real short ones, did not include the line f...

$380 for a mounted and balanced pair of Z6's from a BMW dealer seems slightly high but fair I guess, considering their high overhead costs. I take it the shop will remove and replace the wheels? My Roadster's sported Metzeler Z4's or Z6's ever since the stock Bridgestones went south. Tried Michelin ...

Yes, they're a Miata part (our red '94 shares garage space with my R1150R). My BMW Roadster has worn them for a few years now. I believe these Roadster emblems are normally sported by Miatas sold in Japan.

You are correct of course. All a LIDAR does is measure distance and calculates distance changes over time via incredibly rapid laser pulses. Simple in theory - thanks to the wonders of electronics, relatively simple in execution. Aiming, for the ProLaser anyway, isn't difficult. As I posted previous...

popgazer, Glad you got it dismissed. I'm sure you were being attentive - just trying to get out in front of all those SUV's! :D In Delaware, we're not required to know the inner-workings of the LIDARs - just how to use them. As a prior ProLaser LIDAR instructor, I do know more about them than some. ...
