Yeah, I've already been eyeballing different exhausts. I'll probably do the evoluzione race intake kit and either the remus hexagonal or leo vince carbon sbk evo2 pipe in the spring time. Either will look a heck of a lot better than the torpedo stocker. I like the concept of ESA, but I may eventuall...

Got her home!
I ended up riding just shy of 500 miiles home yesterday (had to reschedule pickup), and it was great... I can't stop smiling! :D The bike is simply amazing! I rode backroads out of Florida for the first 200 miles or so, and superslabbed the rest. It took right around 8 hours, with 3 gas stops and 40...

Coming back to BMW... on a K1200R Sport
After my torrid love affair with my 2002 R1150R ended about a year and a half ago, I'm finally making the return to BMW. The deals for the K12R Sports were too damn good to pass up! $12,995 OTD with hard luggage, ABS, Sport Wheels, heated grips, and clear turn signals. My deposit is in on a White Al...

My R has been gone for 6 months, and the Cycle World pic of the new 12R in black was enough to bring me back here... It certainly invoked a feeling, but I'm still not sure if it was a feeling of must have or nostalgia for the old beauty! The only design issue I have with the new 12R is the tank/oil ...

Not sure if it's the same stand as DJ posted or not, but I saw one at the IMS a couple of years ago that was the same design. It was amazing how stable the thing was. They actually asked for volunteers to try and knock the bike over while it was in the stand. I got to try, and was impressed! It also...

cmack...thanks for your post.. :smt023 ..what's with the cut snorkle? DJ The cut snorkle maximizes air flow into the airbox. If you look at the stock snorkle, the opening is relatively small. Now imagine it cut at a downward angle to maximize the opening size. Cyclerob has some pictures available. ...

Re: aftermarket pipes
A lot of people like to delude themselves about the HP gaines from their expensive aftermarket pipes. Louder doesn't mean more power - it often means less. A German MC magazine (Motorad) last year tested 8 different aftermarket exhaust systems for the R1150R. None made more power than the stock sys...

Re: SWITCH IT
I did it so my bike could warm up while resting on the side stand. It's not always possible to park a bike on the centerstand due to soft ground surface, incline, etc. BMW should design the system so the bike shuts off if placed in gear with the sidestand down. The 1150's can be started or warmed u...

Prices I've seen for the procedure vary based on the equipment and the doctor, but going rates seem to be between $2K - $4K. I have seen a few cheaper specials advertised, but I don't know that I'd be willing to risk my sight for the lowest price... reputation I think is worth paying a little more f...

I was just giving a word of caution. I don't know your skill level, so I would hate to see you mess up a beautiful Roadster! As far as tire recommendations, I would go with the Pirelli MT60R. Pirelli is far more established in making true off-road tires. The MT60R is a pretty aggressive (50/50) comp...

Tires can be confidence inspiring and can make a difference, but a rider who is comfortable off-road will make an even bigger difference. I've taken my R down more than it's fair share of fireroads and in some instances worse on the MEZ6's and have never once felt uneasy. Why? I grew up riding off-r...

Heated Grips
I can't remember what mine were like without the GS handguards installed, but my grips get very hot on the highest setting... almost to the point of being uncomfortable for extended periods of time! I normally switch them on high to warm them up and then flip the switch back a notch.

I love the Givi! I have Pat's legendary cut down Givi and I was a little skeptical when I first installed it, since I really liked the BMW flyscreen. I have had it on for over a year now though and haven't looked backed since. It's by far the best screen I've come across for the R... I've had the sp...

Why not remove the seat, and lift the fuel tank a bit? The battery terminals are accessible, right behind the air box. You'll probably have to lift the tank a bit more than the prop supports allow, and even then you'll have to wiggle your fingers in there, but I've done it to wire accessory lights ...

Boxer, you've read the manuals, so I'm not going to go into the basics... After doing numerous TB synchs, I've come up with a way to get the best synch possible every time with no throttle slop. It will take a little longer the first time, but the majority of the work can be done with the engine tur...
