Re: 2008 Summer Journey

WOW !! What a GREAT ride report, Gypsy. The photos are just fantastic and your report, well, it is much more than that. Your thoughts along the way make it all the more interesting to read. Thanks for being such an open person and being willing to share with us anonymous admirers. Now you know why ...

Re: Riding to Gillette?

Hey RR Riders: I had hoped to run into some of you at the MOA Rally, saw some nice RRs. As a former resident of Wyoming, I had no misconceptions about lovely Gillette but went to the rally for the tech sessions, the presentations, etc. While not every facility can meet the needs of what everyone wan...

To my RR friends and well wishers... new bike

To all of my friends on this Board, I just wanted to tell you I got a new bike, after my rather serious crash just about a year ago (April 29, 2007 to be exact). Many of you sent your prayers, good vibes and get well wishes, which were much appreciated. I got healed up and started surfing on ADVride...

Very, very, very lucky guy. Glad that he could walk away from it and go buy some leathers.

Very, very, very poor signage on the part of the contractor doing the work, or his subs. Those grooved roads are nasty, even when you know you are on them and have a firm grip on your handle bars.

FWIW, http://www.offroute.com has the Spot for $146.95 as of 1/10/08. The owner is a member of ADVrider and has posted that their margins are very thin on the Spot, but they want to promote it. There are some posts on ADVrider that the price may be going up for the Spot unit. Just passing this on. -...

You need the "Plus" version of GE which is $20 per year. Then you can read the tutorial here:

This is getting expensive, isn't it? :x

Super Glue it onto her cellphone. If she is like most, she'll never be without it. :)

Kentuckid 1. Are you crossing the border in Texas? 2. The post Taosport made in Off Topic about the Peace of mind for those who travel alone has a gadget that looked interesting and practical for safety. I'm considering it for myself. Link is http://www.r1150r.org/board/viewtopic.php?t=12745&st...

Try Caribou Cases

Do you know if Peli-cases ever come with integrated keyed locks?? that's one of the things I DON'T like about them - the need for a seperate padlock. I find padlocks fiddly and awkward to use so would far prefer a built in lock on the catches - something every bike-specific top-box has. Roger of ht...

F800GS R1200GS Comparo, FYI

Thinking about a GS to replace the 1150R. Based on available data from the announcements, I whipped up a bit of a comparo on these two GS offerings. Someone, somewhere had asked, why buy an F800GS when you can buy an R1200GS. Well, for one thing, there is over $4000 in difference, based only on the ...

Gypsy: So glad your daughter is OK and got out before any fire started. FWIW I was nicked by a group of illegals at home in Colorado, while riding my F650 a couple of years ago. I say nicked because I saw them swinging way wide, into my lane and quickly steered out of their way. Cops found their van...

The bike was purchased used, and the seller had also purchased it used. And it was literally burned up as it lay there, while EMT's attended to me. I was in the hospital for 3 weeks and did not think too much about anything other than I was lucky to be alive. As for now, 6 months later, I'm still th...

Re: Another one ...

I chanced it and rode the couple of miles home, Captain K. At the risk of scaring the crap out of everyone, please see my post (with picture) above. That is my R1150R after it was totally consumed by fire. I was under it for a portion of that time. I went from riding merrily along to being under a ...
