Re: Bike Wont Start in Gear

My bike is acting up too. I took my switch out cleaned it, and put it back together. It worked fine but a few days later stopped. I guess is moves out of position a tad and the switch does not engage. Its not hard to take apart. From below (just under the cover where the wires lead toward the clutch...

Re: Painting Bits advice

After reading a bunch of post around on various forums about vinyl wraps I am going to try them. Should be fun.

Re: The R1200R Photo Discussion Thread!

Knowledgeable, I'm not so sure. Opinionated for sure. ;) Most of my riding experience is on BMW's though, I've not rode a Guzzi let alone a well setup one - 12R, F800R, F800GS, G650GS and the nineT. Our dirt bike don't count in this context of handling talk. Bikes I had when much younger don't coun...

Re: Best Soft Luggage?

These are high quality: Enduristan Monsoon

Without some type of support on the sides it will be pretty hard to make panniers work.

You may want to check out the Giant Loop back which is very high quality and lays over the seats and attaches to points like the passenger pegs.

Re: Is there a difference between R and RT shocks?

The GS shocks must be a lot taller. Without some for modifications I don't think those can work. As above with the numbers of RT bikes on the road there are just more shocks out there.

Is there a difference between R and RT shocks?

I can imagine spring rates and valving may differ for the heavier RT but is the fitment the same between the two?

Painting Bits advice

I would like to paint the front headlight bracket. This is the two silver pieces on either side of the headlight that the turn signal is bolted too. I would also like to paint the rear cowl just behind the seat. These items are plastic so I had the thought of using a plastic type of rattle can paint...

Re: Turn off switch for ABS in 2013 model possible?

I am sure it is possible. It is fairly common practice on bikes like the Vstrom that don't have an ABS switch but riders like to venture in the dirt.

Re: R1200R out of production

I kind of hope it does not look like the prototype bike. The R1200R is a nice do all type of bike now and that looks like an S1000R with a boxer kind of bike. The R1200R is not a big seller so who knows what they are thinking. I can say that the new water boxer is an extremely nice motor and any bik...
