fork alignment help
Hey team, I came across a thread in the Rockster forum concerning fork alignment and I was hoping you guys would be able to expound on what I've read and found. In short, I noticed some "pulling" or "sucking" in the handle bars while moving at a slow bell on my 04' Rockster. It o...

Re: Help aligning the front end
I agree with the exception that the Clymer manual doesn't go quite far enough: you can't tighten the axle on the rockster without the wheel in place. I initially just fitted the axle and tightened the lower triple which got it close but it was still slightly misaligned: I could feel it in the bars ...

You'll need both the Blue 1150 disc and the purple 1100/1150/1200 disc for the brake bleeding if you have ABS.
They are quite useful, you can find a lot of the other info by digging around, but if nothing else, it'll give you piece of mind.

Re: Low Speed Steering - Again
Wow !! I'm impressed, cgguy. An intrepid quest till a solution was found. I'm puzzled, however, as to why you still intend to install the new part? I intend to perform this operation myself. Hopefully, this nut's location " telelever to fork bridge via pivot ball joint " will be obvious. ...

Re: Low Speed Steering - Again
Solution: So, I loosened & retightened the nut connecting the telelever to the fork bridge via the pivot ball joint, and it feels like it made all the difference. As noted by a friend of mine, the part fiche state's a new BMW pre-loctited nut should be used in a rebuild . As for now, I just cle...

Re: Motorcycle not paying for street parking but no ticket (yet)
In the Netherlands and most European countries it is strictly forbidden to park your bike where cars are supposed to buy a parking ticket and park the car. Simply because you cannot decently buy a ticket and place clearly visible behind the windshield without the risk that it gets blown away or som...

Re: Low Speed Steering - Again
I'm bringing this back....I'm thinking my problem might be the Pivot Ball Joint on the Tele-lever... I've done some reading & there are few threads that name this as culprit for "peculiar" steering habits. The one notable thing is no one can quite define the "feeling" some pe...

Re: Electrical woes
Give me some details about effected wiring (location of wire breaks, connected systems) and I can help with wire color codes from the SLP cd-rom. Three wires were cut... (1)Blue wire with a yellow stripe, (2) Blue wire with a yellow stripe, (3) grey wire with a black stripe. The location is the loo...

Re: Electrical woes
Found it, There was an area where the loom should move around and looked like it was being pinched. It seems it got caught on the frame and was tearing...of course as luck would have it, 2 of the three wires torn are the same color scheme...so I'll need to do a little trial an error to fix it. Thank...

Re: Electrical woes
having trouble picturing where pulling the tranny collides with the speedo, or signals..... i didnt touch any of that stuff.. to be fair, I had already removed the guts of the abs though..... i am not certain theyre related. If they were, youd be getting a big fat ABS error on your dash. everything...

Re: Electrical woes
Oh and to be clear....
it's the blinker switch that believe is the problem.
The hazard lights work and the all the blinkers actually light up.
Also, the tach and the clock work just fine

Electrical woes
Hey team, So, I managed to figure out my weird turn & transmission woes...but the fun doesn't stop. So After I got my new transmission put on, I noticed my right blinker (signal if you're from the North East) didn't work...I chocked it up to a bad connection. I pulled the signal out and it looks...

Re: Swing arm torque specs... I'm a dummy
OUCH. while its out.. I would order: both input seals. output seal AND the gear indicator switch seal. inside of the getrag is normally fantastic. Just the splines and seals are kaka. so those are ok i wouldnt worry much. finally dawned on me why I had trouble visualizing your crack... I took out t...

Re: Low Speed Steering - Again
I am sending you a link to the Ohlins suspension owners manual. And while you may not have an Ohlins suspension, there is a lot of information in the manual about motorcycle suspension, how suspension adjustments affect steering and handling, and how to make adjustments. I think you may find some w...

Re: Swing arm torque specs... I'm a dummy
So, how did (over)torque damage transmission? Guessing it's stripping thread at attachment point(s)? No possibility to use thread inserts? Have you watched the spline repair YouTube from Independent BMW Service? Looks like the tricky part of the transmission work is alignment of the three shafts du...

Re: Swing arm torque specs... I'm a dummy
Turn it with you hand and if smooth and shifts and the oil is clean install. I don't know if you have ever had one apart but you really should know what your doing...really. No offence intended but if you messed up a simple torque problem with the swing arm install..well....that getrag is not for a...

Re: Swing arm torque specs... I'm a dummy
So two things: I did like I shoulda done 2 weeks ago and I re-purchased a Clymers manual, second I bought another transmission. Here is the link while it lasts: http://www.ebay.com/itm/262791744167?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT It's a low mileage Rockster Tranny. Jus...

Swing arm torque specs... I'm a dummy
Hey team,
OK, so I got in a little over my head, I mixed up the torque values for the swing arm. In short...I'm buying a new tranny.
