Re: Cylinder head cover
Gonna post it in here in case anyone else needs this info: The bolts are M6 X 1.0 course thread. I measured the threaded portion of the bold at 16mm So the time-sert kit you wantto get is M6 x 1.0 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001JK802K/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=A2N5EWWITZXTMB) I also felt it wort...

Re: Cylinder head cover
Going to revive this thread… Because, well, It looks like I may have overtightened my head cover bolts on one side - I'm gonna go ahead and blame it on Climber, as the quick-ref said 40Nm - though looking again it's in ref to the 10mm Torx. Sooooooo anyway. All but one spin fairly easily and won't ...

Re: Rockster Headlight Fairing on Japan Models
huh. Yeah I saw the Sasaki Sports Club on a while back. If I were ever to put a windshield on my Rockster, that would be the one I wanted… They seem to have discontinued the one for the Rockster. Too bad. I really like the bottom fairing, though too.

Re: Rockster Windshield?
My bike came with the bmw touring screen, which was fine - I never used it on any long rides since I removed it after about 2 weeks... but it might be good to add here that if the buffeting is your issue, I have had better results from a better helmet than any windscreen (although take that with a l...

Re: Clicky non-start + gas seeping at quick connects
A good update… I finally got to replacing the battery and fuel lines - including new brass quick-connects (quick disconnects?) today. Everything is looking and sounding good. And I'm back on the road. I found out a couple things in the process… the CPC QCs that were on there were a mix of plastic a...

Re: Clicky non-start + gas seeping at quick connects
Thank for the detailed info sykospain, Good to know about the possible injury, bummer that your mechanic found out that way… I have new hoses & clips (actually more than I'll need - a mix of the injection rated screw-type from BBY, and pinch-type from bmw) on the way - pretty sure I'll have enou...

Re: Clicky non-start + gas seeping at quick connects
Thank for the info regarding lithium… all the stuff i found just said you need to keep it warm for it to work in the cold… but if they'd included that it will warm itself trying a couple times, then it's less of an issue… I already have an Odyssey on the way… and have to admit, it's nice that it's 1...

Re: Clicky non-start + gas seeping at quick connects
Well, it started with the battery topped off, so that is temp-fixed. will replace it this week… I did remember why I didn't go with lithium before: because of the slow start in the cold for lithiums… Anyway, the seeping is obviously still there, so that also means I'll replace the fuel lines and the...

Re: Clicky non-start + gas seeping at quick connects
Thanks Hyja1, that does make sense… the battery is a couple years old (it's an Odyssey)– I'll look into lithium. The gel battery that was in there before that one lasted 3 years and I never really remember needing to tender it like this one seems to need… and the QCs are stainless, but the innards a...

Clicky non-start + gas seeping at quick connects
Hi all, I've had some good advice from here in the past, and hoping to get some more on this one… I had done some minor maintenance (oil, brak fluid, etc…) on my bike ('04 Rockster), rode it a while then had a shoulder issue so didn't for several months, so it sat. But when I put it away, it was ru...

Re: Heated grips wiring help
Been long off this site, but basically, I let this one go… I couldn't easily trace where the break in the wiring was, and kinda ran out of time, plus I started working from home, so riding was more often for pleasure than to get back and forth to work, so less on the road (at all) in the winter, and...

… or. on the other hand, and what it really is, is that the threading is wonky on that screw. Note to self, try at least 8 times before assuming I know what's happening. got it in and should be all good.

Re: Battery (/electrical) Diagnosis
Hi Roger & Sweatmark… I finally installed a new battery today. it (or rather, the old one) was the issue. Starts and runs fine. The old - westco - was installed about 2.5 years ago. I bought a new odyssey. When I took it out, the westco was reading 12.65 V, the odyssey is 12.75… and from what I'...

Check out this video… somewhere past about 1/2 way, Chris explains the wires behind the starter. And you can find the wiring diagram in here: http://home.mindspring.com/~jabrooks/

Re: Battery (/electrical) Diagnosis
Thanks sweatmark, Been slow getting back to this. been swamped at work. Anyway, been reading through threads on the oilhead starter issues - I'm at about 28K miles, and seems that from what the Chris Harris was saying, it's not unusual for them to go around now. If i remember right, the one he took ...

Battery (/electrical) Diagnosis
Been trying to gauge whether Im due for a new battery or not on my Rockster. I'll point out that I'm good mechanically, not really good electrically, but am feeling like I am starting to get it. a bit of history - I had a non-start a bit back, towed to my house and am trying to complete the repair m...

That is hilarious stuff. Chalk in the pipe… reminds me of the Beverly Hills Cop scene where he stuffs bananas in the tail pipe of the cops car (while sending out full waitered dinner.
