Re: Tank bag,;what are my options
I've been using the BMW tank bag for a few years (about 100,000 miles) and like it. I bought it new for a greatly reduced price but if I had paid the full price I wouldn't be happy at all. The mounting system is first class as the overall construction. All the zippers still work fine and the stitch...

Re: Rubbery Part Cracking
I'd suggest replacing them. The dealer is correct - the actual fork/oil seal is under the dust seal, but the dust seal wipes things like squished bugs off the fork tubes so they don't attack the actual oil seal. On your '07 this isn't a big deal. You need a way to hold the front end up, or at least...

Re: Low mile r1150r or high mile r1200r
I have two options. 2004 R1150R with 18k miles, non-ABS or a 2007 R1200R with 95k with ABS. Both have the same accessories. Both are the same price - $4k. I've ridden the 1150R but haven't gotten up to ride the 1200r yet. Is the 1200r enough of an improvement over the 1150r to balance out the milea...

Re: Replacing tank on a R1200R 2008
Not without serious modification/fabrication. It'd be far cheaper and much easier just to have a custom shop make you a new tank to your taste - not that that's a particularly cost effective solution either. Maybe just buy a NineT Scrambler?

Re: Tankbags?
Adam, Should be the same flange for both. There is no discernable difference in the cap/mounting that I can see (and I owned an '07..) The one I ordered (and fitted) was a BF06. Be worth calling/emailing them to see if it's in stock or obtainable. Here is a euro ebay listing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/...

Re: Driver pulls gun on biker...
There were shockingly few surprises in this video - from the herd of bikers annoying traffic, up to the stereotypical rednecks in a Texas pick-up, and all the way through to the finale where a guy raps on said redneck's passenger side window and gets a gun pointed at him. I have no doubt someone was...

Re: Valve Cover/Powder Coating
Thanks Harry, that's kinda what I was thinking, but I'm not real familiar with the process, I wasn't sure if it could just get masked off like with paint. I'm not too concerned about the durability of powder coat on the skid plate (but to be honest, I feel like it would hold up pretty good). I have ...

Valve Cover/Powder Coating
Good morning all! My recently acquired 2014 R1200R had one previous owner for a couple of hundred miles - he apparently managed to drop it at some point, scuffing up one of the valve covers. It's not a huge deal to me - it's covered by the MaMo guards anyway - but I'm having a skid plate powder coat...

Re: Do I need these at 12K Service?
I don't think they're actively trying to screw you, if that's what you're asking. They plug it in, and a computer tells them what items are due on your bike (based on mileage, time elapsed, and last service). I'm assuming you had your 6k service performed at a dealer, but you haven't indicated what'...

Re: Tankbags?
I'm pretty much in the same boat as you Don. I'm now on my 3rd R1200R and was really hoping some magical tank bag solution had come along in my absence. I'm just not seeing anything out there that beats the OEM bag unfortunately (and I don't think it's without its faults). In its defense, it fits li...

Re: He's Back!
Great pics! I too, don't plan on any mods ... except I added engine guards (black on black) and throttlemeister thats IT! I'm sure I'll find more to do during the winter ;) I put the LED turn signals on two days ago, and the exhaust has arrived and will go on this weekend - along with the wheel str...

Re: He's Back!
Mods planned = 0 Actual mods = not 0 Oh well. Added some new mirrors (the more contemporary stock mirrors from the rest of the line-up) to replace the oval ones. Engine guards, of course - as well as the ABDECKRING. I also installed a blacked-out tail light, OEM tinted sport screen, and a luggage ra...

Re: He's Back!
That's cool Nathan, welcome back. Makes me glad I didn't get swept up in the 9T frenzy at launch. Still waiting to try the RS though ;) I don't regret buying, it was a nice diversion. But it'll be nice to be back on a trusty R1200R. I was very excited about the RS, and actually really loved it in p...

Re: He's Back!
Hey Nathan, Good choice. I have a friend who owns one of each - one for his NJ house and one for his winter NC house. He'd thought about selling the R1200R in NJ, then he realized he can only ride the R-Nine-T for about 30 minutes before being in pain, so he decided to keep both. He claims not to n...

He's Back!
Like a bad penny. :) Hey all, just thought I'd say "hi". I'll be trading my R NineT in for a lovely 2014 R1200R Dark White on the 26th. Had fun with the 9T, but it just wasn't cutting it as an all-rounder. Started shopping for a replacement a few weeks ago. The 2016 R1200R was obviously a ...

Re: A Loud Rattle at Startup?
Awesome, thank you! Now, how about the guides.... I guess I could search ADV for the GS... good thinking! I did a pretty substantial search of the internets looking for a rail replacement on a Hexhead, but came up nada. I'm guessing BMWMOA is gonna be the only source for that, but I think you have ...

Re: The new BMW R nineT
There will be a 2015 model. Anything after that is speculation at this point, but consensus is that BMW will continue to produce it until stricter 2017 euro emissions standards make it implausible - assuming the model continues to enjoy its current success.

Re: NineT Owners Photo Thread
Hi There, In my opinion, the new paint is really nice. The best part of the bike is the front, including the screen, and up to the tank and seat. The rear is disappointing. The tool box is ugly (and used to be too on the 12R) and spoils the whole "silhouette" of the bike. I am sure some w...
