Re: R1150R - for a tall guy?

Some of this is like a "catch 22". If you heighten the seat are you not making the distance to the bars greater? I'm 6'1" and trying to keep an upright position is not to easy for me. I have to remind myself of the posture post. As far as windscreens goe, I wish I could just have abou...

Re: Clutch spline failures - Let's get serious

OK- In June of '04 BMW recalled 2004 BMW R1150R's do to a Suspension component. The # of model's affected-get this-84. This was found on the NHTSA web site. I haven't researched this enough to know if this clutch failure issue only applies to starting from a stopped position, but if indeed it poses ...

Re: Clutch spline failures - Let's get serious

I've been lurking about and thought I'd post this. I average 1,000 miles per month on a 2004 R1150R I bought used in April of '07 with 7,800 miles on it. I now have 25,000 on it. If I had boughten it new, and as probably many did, put that kind of mileage on them and more would BMW not have been add...

Re: 2000 mile trip, REALLY need help.

I ride 660 miles in a day from Ohio to Ottawa. I've done it several times now and have learned not to go too far till the first break. It doesn't have to be a long one, just get off your butt. Also stand up on the pegs at lower speeds or faster speeds if you are comfortable doing so. I think the but...

Re: BMW windshield rubber well-nuts

Take the screw out-take the windshield off-insert the screw and use it to pull the welnut out, rubber and all of course. You can use a tap and ream the hole on the mounts and the welnut will grip better! Seems to be a pig-and-a-poke how tight to tighten them! This is of course not expert advise (use...

Re: R1150R comfort/ergos?

Hey! 6'1" here and a 32"inseam. I have bar risers and backs and lowered pegs. My longest rides are 650 a day and it's not bad. I have a sheepskin and I TRY to bend my elbows and sit-up straight. There was an article here somewhere about posture. It's a good read. Enjoy!

Re: Throttlemeister Cruise Control

I use the O-ring. I leave it in my tank bag and put it on in highway situations.
