A lot of stand up riding on the rough roads of Mexico, looking for a wider and sturdier footpeg for my R850R 2006, same as for R1150R.
I'm finding Fastway pegs for the GS but none specified for the Rs. Has anyone put these on their R and which model/part number did you find?
Thanks!

Re: Y-pipe
I took the cat converter off of my R850R and replaced it with the DanMoto pipe, the version that has the center stand bracket. It was an easy switch with one caveat: The pipe clamps DanMoto supplies are too flimsy and you should use the stock BMW ones. You will have to shim under them, I used SS shi...

Re: Add on Electronics for Smoother Low Speed Riding
I installed an AX-FIED on my R850R and the improvement in lower speed pulling power and smoothness was dramatic. In fact, the bike seems to have more HP overall. It took 5 minutes to put it on and the factory setting seems to work fine. Not dirt cheap but it works. It worked from the beginning and s...

Re: Oil window weirdness!
I observed the same thing with my bike and my riding buddy who is an expert mechanic said that the oil "hides out" if you put the bike directly on the center stand after riding. He said to check it by first riding some then put the bike on the side stand for 15 minutes, then on the center ...

Question about fork tubes, 2006 R1150/R850R
I have a 2006 R850R, which is the same as the R1150R in most respects. My question concerns the top part of the fork tube where it attaches to the steering head. Should that top part turn by hand or is it possible mine have loosened up on the rather rough roads I ride in Mexico? If they should be ti...

Re: System Pannier question
Let me clarify my question further: The prospective buyer has a 1999 R1100RT. The bag is off of a 2006 R850/1150R.
Are they the same bag?
Thanks.

System Pannier question
I am selling a right hand (non exhaust) System pannier for 2004-06 R1150R. I've been asked if this bag will also fit a R1100RT. I believe it is the same bag as used by the R1150RT up to 2006 but can't find anything definitive about whether it might fit any of the RT models. Could someone point me in...

Best Garmin for your moto
Curious as to which Garmins you all are using and why. I need to be able to load a large Mexican map file, so the model must have sufficient capacity for that. Also, it should be able to handle the vibration of the bike and rough roads while riding. Looking at a Nuvi 50LM, very reasonable cost, will...

Re: R850/1150R 2006 questions about shocks
I did a lot of research on this and it appears the consensus is the Hagons are better than stock but not up to the level of Wilburs, Ohlins or Hyperpro.
However, they are a great deal less expensive also.

Re: R850/1150R 2006 questions about shocks
Ended up finding a major deal on BMWMOA on a set of Yacugar for less than half the price of new, 6000 easy miles on them. Also found out the stock Showas can be rebuilt but really not worth the money.

R850/1150R 2006 questions about shocks
What brands of shocks were put on these bikes by BMW? Are they rebuildable?
Is the preload on the front adjustable?
Thanks.

Re: Is There a Way to Get A Deeper Sound with Standard Exhau
Believe it or not, if you add an AF-XIED, set it on setting 8 you will get a deeper, throatier sound. And you'll get more pulling power in the low RPMs. Someone who's installed this may be willing to confirm it. The sound isn't louder, just a bit more powerful sounding. BTW, I don't advocate that a...

Re: Is There a Way to Get A Deeper Sound with Standard Exhau
I'm told that if you remove the catalytic converter you get a better sound plus better performance. You shouldn't do that where it is illegal however.
I have the same feeling about the stock pipe. It is much nicer looking than most of the aftermarket ones.

Re: Warm up time on an r1150r
I just put it on high idle, get on the bike and ride it. By the time I get to the top of the hill, 3 blocks, I turn it off and ride. Always, it has been proven that an engine that is used warms up faster. You don't need to worry about friction wear if you use synthetic oil as practically everyone do...

Thanks Roger for all your feedback and education for the Motronic challenged (me). It will be a couple months before I get all this stuff and get it on the bike but I will post feedback on the results.

Re: AF XIED vs. Booster Plug for 2006 R850R
I had to look up the rocket sprocket business. You're the first one to bring that up. Excellent idea but I don't think I want to get into engine modifications at that level at this point. I'd be interested in your experience with fitting it, however. Thanks for the feedback on the AF XIED. I am goin...

Re: AF XIED vs. Booster Plug for 2006 R850R
That's a good idea though I'm certain I want to remove the cat converter to get better flow through the engine. Almost all my riding is at 5000 feet or higher. I'm going to put a K&N on the intake too. The motronic should inject more fuel if there is more air flow, correct? However, it will stil...

Re: AF XIED vs. Booster Plug for 2006 R850R
Whoa boy, I wouldn't have a clue how to do all that. I guess it will have to be the AF XIED. Note that although I don't have the surging problem, it is clear the bike is running very lean and I believe it affects mid range torque and HP where I need better performance for our type of riding he...
