Re: Will GS pegs and mounts fit on the R?

Are you thinking that it would improve the foot position, such as lowering and moving forward? That might be a better way (a used setup from salvage) than those expensive lowering kits for the r's. Would be interested to see if it's possible. Yes, that's what I had in mind! But I was hoping I wasn'...

Will GS pegs and mounts fit on the R?

Looking to make my R a little more comfortable and make standing up easier. Has anyone used the GS set up on an R? I did a search and couldn't find a thread on this.

Thanks

I've had a Kermit for many years. Expensive? Yes. "BMW trendy"? Yes. But it has been a perfect chair and I can and do use it in the living room when we need an extra chair for the ball game. You can also get leg extensions to raise it up a little as you get older! So you can get out of it ...

The is the SM-5. Any suggestions appreciated.

I'm not an expert by any means but I'd vote for a dud. I installed one about 6 months ago and it was totally "plug and play".

Ask for a new one.

Get a good lawyer quickly. In most states you only have 1 yr. to file. BMW needs to be brought to the table on this issue. Also, notify the Conusmer Products Safety Commission. Leaks haven't gotten much action but your fire and injury might be the incident to bring this to the point of getting somet...

I started out looking for a GS and my R dropped out of the sky with a price tag I couldn't pass on. After owning it for a few months, I'm not looking for a GS any more. Exactly what happened to me. Looking for a GS and I found my '03 R for at least $3K less than any GS I could find. The GS's are ju...

OK, I guess I really do spend too much time on the road. Friday morning I observed a deer run into a car at 10:30 AM. New highway, basically an Interstate 50yd. grass on both sides and about the same in the center. Nothing coming from the other direction 4 vehicles headed West and I was the last abo...

So do you think that BMW would "quietly" do this for the average owner?? I'd say that working for a dealership got you fixed right. BMW should be doing this for all of the bikes having these problems. But helping you "quietly" is their response. They keep things "quiet"...

This is a good thread. Thanks Vann for starting it. Sounds like there are a lot of "ALERT RIDERS" on this board. Probably one of the reasons we picked "R's" in the first place. Safety is something that needs to be talked about often; to remind us to stay alert and RIDE thru dange...

The Rockster looks good but it has a different light/instrument package that hangs down and angles toward the fender, giving it a totally different look at the front.

I've also had to dodge a few things on the road. As crazy as these two incidents sound they are true. I spend a lot of time on the highway. I'm a safety engineer/consultant and travel 3k to 4k a month and have for the last 30 yrs. Sometimes I get to ride too, so I've had lots of exposure. One on the...

I went thru the same process back in the spring. I wound up getting a new Givi top box with a pad. Found one on sale for less than the backrests, so I get a back rest and storage. When my wife rides she always has something to carry that won't fit in my tank bag anyway. It comes right off if I don't...

It's right that BMW owned up to the repair, but until the shortblock and transmission cases are replaced, this is going to happen again and we know just about when. Absoutly right on. BMW had a bad batch of K75's hit in the US that were having the same problem. BMW blamed it on the way they were an...

I had smothness issues when I first got mine. I noticed that it shifted better when the fast idle(choke) was on. So I practiced with leaving the throttle on when shifting and found that I get better shifts by just barely tapping the clutch with 2 fingers. Don't move it more than just a hare and leav...

Re: Two up.

In spite of everyone elses opinion, I feel the 1150 does not have enough low end torque for two up riding. When the wife and I come to a stop and then start up again on a hill I have to get the revs up to keep from stalling, and feather the clutch. This makes that lovely smell as the clutch burns, ...

telliott & KMACR, Don't blame the Z-6 tires for difficult or reluctant turn-in. Well, I keep my tires up to pressure and I like the rear suspension to "work" and not board stiff. Obviously you can have too little preload and have the rear end dropping down. I have it adjusted to my we...

I read a post (somewhere) that the new bearing has fewer "balls" than the original. I also read that....and I asked and they said.."No..That's not true". I think there is that option with some aftermarket bearings but not recommended by BMW. [DJ Well, apparently it is different ...
