Re: Clutch slipping in high gear

Hey guys, Just a little update. I got the new starter earlier this week and spent all morning yesterday putting the bike back together. I installed the starter, the swingarm, final drvie, and bolted the frame back to the bike. I installed almost everything back except for the rear light assembly and...

Re: Clutch slipping in high gear

Thanks for your input. I started putting it back together this weekend as I wait for the Started to arrive. I have a quick questions in regards to the pivot pins on the rear wheel fork. The manual states to use loctite when installing it but I also remember seeing a one of Chris Harris videos on you...

Re: Clutch slipping in high gear

Hey guys, I am still in need of some assistance trying to figure out what is going on with my bike. I put the essential stuff back together (I.e the full tank, fuel lines, air filter, etc) and tried to crank it up but it only tried to turn a couple of times and then it just died. You can just hear t...

Re: Clutch slipping in high gear

Hey guys, it's been a while and sadly I'm still not riding my bike. Things came up and I haven't had time to put it back together. I have finally put the clutch assembly and the gearbox back and I wanted to turn it on to make sure the gears are shifting properly before I install the final drive and ...

Re: Clutch slipping in high gear

Hey guys here I am again with more questions as I am getting ready to put it all back together...I went ahead and replaced the REAR input shaft seal and the output shaft seal that connects to the driveshaft as it was all full of oil as well...I have a couple of questions which I fear I'm not going t...

Re: Clutch slipping in high gear

wow, I would be very hesitant to drill a hole like that on the bike....but it probably is a great idea....I'm still trying to understand how the slave cylinder works..so the housing of the slave cylinder shouldn't have any oil in it??....when I saw that oil in there I wasn't sure if that was good or...

Re: Need to Replace a Clutch

MMH, I didn't think about the oil proof disk because it seems like an overkill and using that clutch doesn't fix the issue with my bike...I'd rather keep troubleshooting the issue until I find out what cause the oil leakage and fix that...I really don't feel like taking my bike apart again, so I'd r...

Re: Clutch slipping in high gear

Well my friend who I bought it from got it back in 2006 and I got it from him in 2012...I think that in all the time that he had it he only put about 10,500 miles on it...so for the year, it has very few miles but as far as I know this bike has never been taken apart...but that is based on what I kn...

Re: Need to Replace a Clutch

MMH, I am in the same boat as you (also have a post here name "clutch slipping in high gear")....I noticed the same thing as you, if normal operation everything worked fine but if I was in 5th or 6th gear and I open the throttle the engine would rev up but it would not advance..I had to re...

Re: Clutch slipping in high gear

at over 200K miles your bike is a testament to how great these bikes are...unfortunately mine only last 19K miles :(

on the bright side, the splines seem to be in perfect condition and I don't have to worry about that...

Re: Clutch slipping in high gear

I did the 12K miles maintenance on it but I did not do the clutch fluid...I only bled the brake fluid....like you mentioned, because the clutch rod looks to have oil on it I would think it's the slave cylinder, but then when you look at the slave cylinder pictures it look very clean...the clutch flu...

Re: Clutch slipping in high gear

kirby, I did not buy it new, I brought from a friend of mine in December 2012 (11,300 miles at the time)...in regards to the spline lube, if this was the issue wouldn't it have gone bad a long time ago? I already got the clutch plate and I plan on just cleaning the rest of components real good and r...

Re: Clutch slipping in high gear

Hey guys, I have yet to do any work on my bike as Mr. Obama has yet to return me my money but today I removed the starter and there seems to be quite a bit of oil in there...I would like to say that it's DOT4 fluid but it looks like engine oil to me...based on some earlier comments it was mentioned ...

Re: Clutch slipping in high gear

hey guys I need some more feedback... I was asking around in another forum (advrider) since there is someone there that makes a spacer for the clutch to have a better fit between the clutch hub and the shaft.... It was mentioned that if the clutch is already slipping it would be better to change out...
