MRA X-creen w/ Cee Baileys Sport Shield?
Hi all; With the New England weather hinting at the roads being rideable soon, my thoughts have turned to wind protection. After buying my 2011 R1200R, I picked up a Cee Baileys Sport Shield that mounts to the BMW Sport Screen bracket. It helps keep more wind off my chest, but unfortunately it creat...

Re: '11 R1200R - GPS Power Outlet Flaky
Rob, Installing a Centech Fuse panel with relay and connecting the TomTom to it corrected the problem. The GPS plug was definitely cutting power intermittently when the bike was cranking. Could the cause of that have been low voltage from the battery during cranking? I guess... But on a <1 year old ...

Re: Additional Lighting for '11 R1200R
Photos from this cloudy morning. I have the MotoBozzo reflectors angled up as high as they go. They can be angled down very easily. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xSVBflPGNzM/U9EhWFUkvsI/AAAAAAAABD4/NmkDLlqK2bE/w1104-h828-no/IMG_1042%255B1%255D.JPG https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-mS92OhpaVyM/...

Re: Additional Lighting for '11 R1200R
How do you like the light output of the MotoBozzo lights? I have the Skene's on the back and really like them. I've followed bikes with them also and they're great at grabbing attention.. much brighter than the tail light. Looks-wise, not that great but they're pretty small compared to that BMW thi...

Re: Additional Lighting for '11 R1200R
Thanks for all the replies everyone. I ended up ordering and installing the MotoBozzo lights because of a combination of price and looks. To me they almost look like a factory option on the bike, tucking in nicely under the front edge of the tank. They were just about $200 shipped, and the install w...

Re: '11 R1200R - GPS Power Outlet Flaky
Thanks all! I decided to order and install a Centech AP2 and Relay. I hit order before reading deilenberger's recommendation for the FuzeBlock. I just need to figure out where to mount it and get it all hooked up. I'll have to extend the feed for my TomTom back to the Centech once it's installed and...

Re: '11 R1200R - GPS Power Outlet Flaky
Thanks John and David! I'll break out the multimeter and check to see if it's the TomTom's cradle or power from the bike that's being flaky. I had been assuming it was the bike, but knowing it could be the cradle is something I'll have to verify. At least it'll be easy to check! It's good to know it...

'11 R1200R - GPS Power Outlet Flaky
Hi all; I picked up BMW's "repair plug" (1/83300413585 REPAIR PLUG, 3-PIN - NO. 611656) last year to connect a TomTom Rider cradle to the CanBus accessory connector under the front right side of the tank. The power reliably turns on when I turn the bike on with the key. Here's my problem: ...

Re: Another Tire Thread
I recently had a pair of Pilot Road 4 fitted. There is only good reviews of this tyres on the net so it appeared to be a good choice. For me it was a bad choice as I dont like them and cant wait to get them off. Can you explain why? What other tires have you been using, and why don't you like about...

Re: Another Tire Thread
I've been riding on PR3s for the last 10,000 miles or so, and *just* had to replace the rear. The front looks to still have at least another 1,000 left. At least 3,000 of those miles were two up with full luggage. In short, I love the tires. When I replaced the rear, I put another PR3 on. When it's ...

Thanks for all the replies! jkhomes and Anyname, Thanks for the idea about the LED Photo Blasters. I'll have to think about that a bit more. Anyname, how much did the Lumalink brackets run you? They don't list a price on their website... After using the Darlas for a while, are you happy with them, o...

Additional Lighting for '11 R1200R
So I'm thinking about adding some additional lights to my '11 R1200R. I've read through as many threads as I can, but I'm having a hard time making a decision. My goals, in order: Better visibility to other drivers, without being (too) obnoxious. An installation that fits well with the aesthetics of...

Re: New Roadster
I hope the new R12R still has ABS, ASC and linked brakes. I love those features on the current R. Telelever just had to go to make room for the two radiators on the new water cooled engine, no other way to make it fit. I don't believe there is a conspiracy to get rid of telelever or any other reaso...

Re: Thumbs up for Valdi's Moto Zone in Torrance CA.
10,000 miles ago I put on a pair of new PR3s; I just had to replace the rear. When I rolled into the shop, there was almost no tread left in the middle. The front probably has around 1,000 more in it, I'll find out! At least 3,000 of those miles were two-up, will full luggage and a tail bag. I'm als...

Re: R1200R Asymmetry
It is.
It's pretty apparent looking down from above. My guess is so that the tank contours visually match the cylinders, which are not symmetrical from the top either. One is further forward than the other.

Re: Tires for R1200R, need a little DS
I think I read that the rear tire has a wider center of the harder tread compound, and that's the only difference...SDMAX wrote:Then there is apparently Michelin PR3 Trails....can't find much on them.

Re: Considering the R1200R. A few Questions
Hi,
I'm 5'6" as well, and went for the normal height & seat, and they work just great. My inseam is 30". I can get the balls of both feet down at stops.
Try sitting on a couple to see if you really need the lowered suspension.

Re: Brake Failure Light
Double check the bulb. The computer can sense when one filament is out, and can make the bulb look like it's working okay when in reality it has a burnt out filament.

Re: 2011 - Mirror Vibration from 4,000-4,500 RPM
ammolab, I know what you mean! I've so far resisted the siren call of the Booster Plug, but who knows... If it can smooth out low RPM on/off throttle, it would definitely be worth it. Otherwise, my bike seems to run fine. I too have succumbed to the Mudsling, plus an Ilium Works side stand enlarger ...

Re: 2011 - Mirror Vibration from 4,000-4,500 RPM
Wonderlich sells a set of mirror extenders that fit into the original mounting holes and moves the mirrors up, forward and out. Interesting side effect, they stop the vibration. I bought a set and much to my delight found the vibration issue solved. My mirrors were all but useless at all RPM's. The...
