Re: Northern Illinois residents .

Sorry, haven't been on for a while. I have my major service done at Gina's BMW in Iowa City, IA. It's easier for me to drive west 1.5 hrs than east into Chicago traffic. In the suburbs there is: http://www.cyclewerks.com/ at Barrington http://www.bmwmotorcyclesofcountryside.com/ at Countryside If yo...

Irritable Throttle Syndrome

They are in sync but here's what they are doing at idle: On Rob's manometer - It cycles between an equal but more movement of water to an equal but less movement of water. ...or on a TwinMax - It cycles between wider needle movements to narrower needle movements. It does it about every 8-10 seconds ...

Thx Tao, DrS, and IowaB! =D>

I can add another sugestion - don't do this on a 85F/85% RH day unless you need to loose weight. Getting that Pump Assy out takes time and patience!

Mods - can we get this thread moved to the Maintenance topic? Please [-o<

Re: Weekend getaway

Uhhh, Steve? Have you been drinking to much with your Harley neighbors? :smt030 I did ask you if you could make it to Spring Green about 2 or 3 days before the trip. You said you couldn't make, and you were still recovering from seeing Ves' off in your mirror! My bad for not asking sooner however! W...

Cool!

Thanks for all the info Wayne!

I'll more than likely order a set of DCPR6E's next time I change them. No one had them in stock locally. Nearest "Adv. Auto" is an hour away. The pains of living in "Corn County IL"

Re: Anyone carry a laptop on the R1150R?

I've been carrying an IBM or Dell laptop on my daily commute for 2 years. I use a backpack laptop case and it just fits in the right system case if placed at an angle. When I travel though, that case holds my luggage. So I wrap the whole back pack in an over-sized rain cover and cargo net it to the ...

Re: Cold Weather Riding Safety

Here is another question:

Are motorcycle tires really meant for all season, specifically winter, riding?

I would guess that all season car and truck tires have treads and compounds designed for better traction on cold slippery surfaces, but I'm doubting that most motorcycle tires are meant for it.

Buckster, This is specifically for using Auto-Lite 4164's as the replacements for the bottom plugs on twin spark models. The 4164's are available at most local auto parts stores where the Bosch YR6LDE replacements had to be ordered. The plug wrench that came in the BMW tool kit will work on the top ...

My Auto-Lite 4164 bottom plug solution

As everyone here probably knows, or may find out the hard way, the Auto-Lite 4164’s are a replacement for the bottom plugs on the twin-spark models. However, they won’t fit in the standard BMW plug wrench and to make matters worse, a standard 11/16” deep socket that fits the plug will not fit up int...

Re: Compression check .... Uh Oh!

...and if your going to use the Autolites 4164's on bottom, buy a cheap plug socket for them and grind the outer surface down to fit into the plug well.

I admit, it's not pretty but it works! I may have the "Tool & Die" guys at work make me one that's more BMW worthy
