Looked like you were exceeding the speed limit by "lots" - nice ride.

No speed limit on the Mountain Course :D

Mad Sunday Ride

I made a short video riding my '11 R12R on the Isle of Man TT circuit yesterday morning ( Mad Sunday ). I thought she might enjoy losing her sensible reputation for a short period ;-)

The fog kind of ruined it.

Re: new exhaust

I believe they moved the cat from the Y pipe to the can in these later models, hence the heat in the standard can, compared to the Remus which you can put your hand on.

Re: Greetings all from new member/Advice Needed.

On the other hand 2,800 miles is better than 28,000. Abs is something else to go wrong, and you can use the lack of it to negotiate a better price.

Re: new exhaust

Sorry If I wasnt clear, the standard end can has a cat, the Remus Hexacone dosen't. This is a pic with the insert still fitted:- http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a258/derekmcd/DSC06005.jpg Once I took out the baffle out there was no obstruction, you could roll a golf ball through it. It came with t...

Re: new exhaust

As far as I know the cat is in the can on the '11 models, that is why you lose the heat when you change the can. I understand the back pressure comment, but I thought that was part of the exhaust valve's job?

Re: new exhaust

I dont think the end can gives any performance gain, I got it for the looks, sexier note and heat reduction. As a bonus it is a good bit lighter too. I kind of fancy a couple of the carbon BMW badges to complete the tartiness :-k . http://www.easy-motorcycle.com/bmw-z3-m5-9703-5series-e39-blk-carbon...

Re: new exhaust

Is it a full exhaust, or just a muffler/slip on? Any plans for a power commander? Cost? Vender? Nice looking bike! Its just the can with the chrome headers, http://www.performanceparts-ltd.com/ are the distributor in the uk, but I got it through my local parts guy with other stuff so I don't know t...

new exhaust

I got the Remus carbon for mine. It burbles nicely at low speed, but isn't too noisy once you get going. Exactly what I wanted. I took the insert out which is still showing in the picture. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a258/derekmcd/DSC06010.jpg Also here's a couple of short videos of me having ...

Headlight dip question

As I live in the UK we drive/ride on the left side of the road (which is the right side btw ;) ). When my 2011 r1200r is parked close to a wall with the light on the dip position, the beam is higher on the right. Normally in the UK the beam is higher on the left to illuminate the left side of the ro...

Re: ESA and On-board Computer Thoughts

I went for the screen, computer, chrome headers, led and grips. Have ABS on my XChallenge and it gets on my friggin t i t s , especially on loose surfaces when the bike won't stop! ESC wasn't particularly relevant to me, especially since the big knob under the seat does most of the work for less mon...

Re: Trouble shifting into 6th gear?

My new R1200r also wont go into first when it is cold without letting the clutch in and out a couple of times. I'm not particularly worried about it as their demonstrator bike did the same thing when I rode it. At least it dosen't make the horrible Honda crunch. If it still does it in 23 months time...

Re: Trouble shifting into 6th gear?

My 2011 r1200r has done that on me a couple of times too, first time coming from just picking the bike up at the dealer and a couple of other times when short shifting. I have come from a Suzuki which are well known for having a slick gearbox. I am willing to put up with it as I believe it will get ...

Hi been lurking for a while. Ordered a R1200R last month and was told I wouldn't get it until November. Got a call last Saturday to say it had arrived on Friday and was in their workshop ready to go. Dunno whether the factory was quiet and the order got brought forward, or if it was someone elses ca...
