Re: LED replacement headlight bulb

I visited the Cyclops vendors booth at Billings. Their Led bulb assembly which has a cooling fan attached in the rear, is too long for the stock r12 headlamp shell. The rear of the shell must be "cut out" to accommodate the bulb assembly. The bulb cooling fan Is the problem. Why an LED bul...

Re: "MV lifting handle"??

I have the handle from Wunderlich. I mounted it as they suggested. It is on the vertical frame strut above the passenger foot peg support. I also have a Mud sling. There is no interference. Works great. Part number 8500141. It's a bit pricey. $139.00.
Good luck...

Lowered center stand

I have just installed a set go Wilbers shocks that have been lowered 25 mm. I tried to cut and weld the stock center stand which was too long. I cannot get it to the proper length. Does anyone know of a lowered center stand or at lease a solution to my delima?
Thanks,
MM

Re: New VStream Z2443 Installed Yesterday

I recently installed the Z2442 version ZTechnik Windshield. It is the 18.5 inch high one. Other than the buffeting above 60mph, I like it pretty well. The lower windshield extensions give a little more protection. It is a solid mount, but the buffeting still is annoying. I have used the Cee Baileys ...

Now that you mention the name Spiegler, I remember that was who my dealer ordered it from. Works great and maybe even a better cable than the oem one. I asked for a 2 to 3 inch longer cable.

There are Verholen risers especially made for the 11' model. I know, I have them on my '11.

Re: 2011 leaking fork seals anyone?

After 2000 miles, my forks on my 2011 are clean and dry. this seems to be an intermittent problem with some bikes. Still, since as said before, since there is no damping from the forks it should be nothing to worry about. That said, there are always exceptions. If you suspect a problem take it to th...

Re: mv verholen handle bar risers on 2011 r1200r

Sorry, no. I had the dealer do it when I was in for the 600 mile service. I do believe though it was not BMW. There is another company that provided it. I will do a little research to see if I can find out.

Re: mv verholen handle bar risers on 2011 r1200r

I did have to replace the brake line. The original one would fit, but I was uncomfortable with the tension on it. So, I opted to replace it with a 1 1/2" to 2" longer one. My dealer did the job for me.

Re: New to this forum but not new to BMW!

I also have an '11 R1200. I love it. There are many accessories. Check out the various BMW sites here. First thing I got was the potentiometer gard for the left side. It is very easy to brake if your boot hits it. Trust me I know. I broke mine while on a trip to Cabo San Lucas. Luckily there was a n...

Re: Cee Bailey wants a 2010 or newer R1200R for a few days.

I understand the 2011 is different than the 2010. A 2011 is needed for the new windshield. I don't know about the 2012.

Re: Windshield Bracket

I received an email from Joe at Cee Baileys. If someone in the LA area has a 2011 R1200R that they can let them look at, they can finish up the '11 Windshield. Any volunteers?

Re: Paint protector/cleaner/polisher

I have used " NuFinish" products for years. It is not a wax but a polymer product. It is made for clear coated surfaces. It will last for many washes and make the surfaces easier to clean the next wash. They also make a scratch remover for those type of things that we get from time to time...

Whats this awful white stuff!

Have you ever polished or waxed your bike then noticed white smeers on the black trim parts? This always happens to me. Even more now with my new 1200R. Most of the black trim is not smooth and shiney. It's dull and sort of rough. I have discovered WD40 on a cleen rag will remove it completely. HA! ...

Re: Cost of New Cables?

I love my '11 1200R, but I don't believe I have ever seen a one size fits all bike. Everyone is different. If your bike fits you well then you are lucky. I am only 5'7" tall so a few modifications are needed for my bike to fit me comfortably. I like the bars, but they are too far forward and to...

Re: 2011 R1200R oil drain....Metric Hex or Torx?

My '11 1200R takes an 8mm hex (allen)driver. The T50 also fits, but I think the hex driver is a better fit.

Re: Castor Oil 20w-50

Do you really mean Castor Oil or Castrol brand of oil? Big differance. I would not mix oils in my Beemer. If in doubt, I would just change it as well as the filter. If you have been using pure systhetic I would stay with that. BMW also offers a blend. If you use regular oil then switch to synthetic,...
