Re: Clutch slave failure

So what was the remedy? Did repair necessitate pulling bike apart?

Next winter I'm due for Rockster#2 disassembly, clutch splines inspection and installation of Roadster overdrive transmission.

Re: Merry Christmas 2022!

Checking in! Hey Doug, my membership payment didn't go through... that might have even been 2021 since the flies. Wayne hope you're doing well. My current work travel takes me everywhere but Virginia! There's a Rockster user group in Facebook with the occasional good post, but it's mostly internatio...

Re: Temp Sensor

The air box temperature B9550 and oil temperature B9561 sensors are only such measurements on R1150R.

Fuel injectors clean? Fouled/poor spray characteristics mean low vaporization under cold conditions.

Re: AF-XIED? Spiegler brake lines?

Running AF-xied for 7 years and big fan. Tried a range of settings initially then stuck with 7 or 8 (will have to check).

Installed on 1st Rockster then transferred to current a Rockster. Tried other black box (air temperature) options on Roadster but wasn't convinced of lasting improvements.

Re: Blue paint bubbling and peeling off cylinder heads

Maitre Did you find a solution? The paint in early 2000-production BMWs is a problem, especially for magnesium and aluminum alloys used for parts exposed to environment. My current Rockster has big paint (oxidation, actually) bubbles on the valve cover, and erosion/flaking of paint on forks castings...

Re: The site is.... Back up

Thanks Doug!

BTW my automatic R1150R.org membership contribution was rejected this year. Perhaps the payment info was out of date... I didn't investigate.

Nonetheless I would like to contribute and get my octuple member badge... it's probably more, but who's counting?!

Re: Merry Christmas 2022!

Merry Christmas Wayne! Next year I'm due for burundesa visit in Virginia; would be cool to meet for coffee. Haven't been here in the group for quite a while, and happy it's still online, thanks Doug. Travel a bit for work and would like to make side trips happen to meet some of the R1150R family in ...

Re: Back after 10 years!

Inspiring!

I would like to go fishing for a similarly vintage and newish R1150R as project bike, if I sell a bike to make room in the garage. Always an Oilhead fan - specifically of our Roadster/Rockster versions.

Re: The December check in thread....

So am I helping or hurting bandwidth using "Active Topics" as my site entry, with "keep me logged in" selected? I doubt it, "bandwidth" is the amount of water flowing through the river, how that is managed is only a tiny part of the flow. Ok cool, I'm back to checking ...

So am I helping or hurting bandwidth using "Active Topics" as my site entry, with "keep me logged in" selected? Haven't ridden enough this year, but was happy to complete Rockster rebuild and 3k miles of shakedown. Running well, with list of winter upgrades. Put Road 5s on S1000:...

Re: 2002 R1150R speedo backlight

After almost 20 years and 35K one of my back lights went out on the speedo. Has anyone replaced these? How much of the cluster do I have to tear into? Consider myself fairly handy, so it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks in advance Changed instrument lights on my 1st Rockster in 2010 but not on my ori...

Re: ABS removed, now to reroute the lines...suggestions.

Sweatmark, There are a few steps and a bit of palaver. 1 - Full rebuild (pistons, seal and mounting bolts. Don't split the callipers, they have a notorious tendency to warp and become impossible to re-seal. 2 - The callipers were cleaned and then the lettering front and back was lightly sanded back...

Re: So I am the only one that comes here anymore..

Replaced the steering damper on my '06 as it was spewing, and no doubt no longer damping. Did the '06 R12R come with a steering damper?? I didn't know that. The other question is: does it actually need one? Or was it just BMW thinking "A steering damper looks fly, lets fit one!" Which beg...

Yes, a project - will need to make 2, one for me and another for you. Intriguing! The case "augmentation" idea is winter project, and I can send you result for whatever hack might be appropriate to carry bow + quiver. Bought myself a City lid for left side, and want a metal external frame...
