Re: Stinky Drippy Smoky

Rode 100 miles on Saturday, but not the Rockster. She's tough but needs a few replacement parts.
Getting x-rays tomorrow to see if I need replacement parts too.

Re: Slipping Clutch - low miles

Clutch Slip Update: After having the better half help manually bleed the Clutch there is no longer any slipage at peak power...thankfully. It did bleed out a few small air bubbles. When I removed the ABS and installed braided brake lines I also bled the Clutch using a manual vacuum pump initially. ...

Re: Stinky Drippy Smoky

Ouch! How big is that Bad Bump? Do you have any recourse against the county for failure to maintain the roads? Estimate: 12" rise in 18" span, or perfect size to launch bike and rider at 40MPH. That road is in USDA Willamette National Forest. Normal maintenance and markings do not apply, ...

Re: Stinky Drippy Smoky

A bit of excitement for you diehard board members: slow motion video of my best crash ever! I gave myself a thumbs up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpFrolho3yg GoPro was attached to Rockster instrument cover. Yes, the bike landed on me... right side valve cover and handlebar were on asphalt surfa...

Re: Stinky Drippy Smoky

... and without peels' peer pressure to urge my needed final drive leak repair, I did the next best thing: crashed Rockster2. The bike and I each did a forward flip, with bike landing on me. Such affection and closeness.

There's oil oozing on one side near cylinder now.

Re: just like that, bye bye beak :(

Oh that sucks. And I thought all Iowans were law abiding corn-fed folk. Actually, I got ripped off in Des Moines when moving from Midwest to west coast, car broken into and cleaned out. Buy 2 bikes with insurance money: something newish today salve your sense of loss, and another R1150R (cheap) as t...

Re: Stinky Drippy Smoky

Peels, maybe we should make a pact. My Rockster2 is wetting it’s Paralever boot, so final drive or transmission output are possible “issue.” But the leak is slow, I’m checking fluid levels, and consider the problem to be minor. But stil...

Re: Anyone still here?

Regarding the Mighty K: It's been a bucket list item since the mid-80s to own and ride a K. A friend from engineering college had an '86 K100RS - he was the cool rich guy with many bikes in the garage, and hard core riding credentials to match. Solo transcontinental rides on airheads, club racing hi...

Re: Anyone still here?

My K was equipped with Shorai battery installed by original owner. I installed sealed lead acid later, Yuasa or equivalent. Like you, I'm thinking of selling the mighty K. Excellent road trip bike, but the Rockster can serve that function admirably (though less swiftly), and I'm getting my performan...

Re: Anyone still here?

Replaced K1300 battery. I think it was 14Ah, with terminal polarity opposite that of the R1150R, definitely different form factor. Can confirm when next in garage.

Re: R1150R tires again!

Thought I'd add recent tire performance impression: Based on Wayne's and Mike's enthusiastic recommendations about Shinko Raven 009 tires, I bought a set during the following discussion: http://r1150r.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=35587&hilit=shinko Well, those tires have been sitting in dar...

Oh Wayne, sorry to hear about this.
Need to work on your timing to better coincide with pandemics and riding season.
Where do we send the antifreeze for your cast?

Re: Front axle gap

Today I reinstalled Rockster wheels after new tires were fitted by Cycle Gear. I had trouble getting the front axle into the left hand side (LHS) fork bottom due to fork twist. Will revisit fork alignment in the future, but the front wheel spins fine with brakes installed. Bike was crashed by origin...

Re: Remove ABS - Dual Banjo at the master cylinder?

If one were to the remove the ABS from their beloved R1150R (and I would never countenance such a thing lest it contravene the laws of the land in your respective countries) is their any reason not to run a double banjo at the master cylinder and two hoses. Each one straight to a caliper... That's ...

Hi Phil, Really weird hearing myself... Enjoyed the telephone visit. Hope to visit in person once I'm off house arrest... jb It's fun to learn more about some of the long-timers here on the R1150R board. Having been a member for many years, including the first board version, it's a like a n...
