Budget for Riding Season

News posted yesterday: The five highest average gas prices in the U.S. are all in the western region of the country: California: $4.016 Hawaii: $3.586 Washington: $3.424 Oregon: $3.323 Nevada: $3.323 Ouch. That hits me where I ride, specifically home (OR), a couple of long weekend trips into NorCal,...

Re: Fork Shrouds?

That's a legit R1150R in murdered-out flat black glory. Actually, not a bad effort! If I would have known about the fork shroud inquiry, then I could have looked up that shop while in Brazil last week. Guessing those shrouds or covers are thin gauge plastic tube. Was it CycleRob who praised the meri...

... On a third note, @sweatmark, mine was ----- citrus green until this week as it had to go and Ive painted it 'Ice blue' over black metallic.... Yes, please post some pics. For my bike, I'm thinking about fluorescent/neon green as befitting a "wanna-be edgy & urban" BMW. James - tha...

Re: Starting problem :-(

What could it be? Voltage measured at charging is 13.6 and 12.9V after one or two attempts to start with that chirpoing noise. I tried connecting the car battery and same issue persists so I am convinced it is not the battery. Is it starter relay or something else? How did you connect the car batte...

Just wondering: symptoms of bad clutch, or of bad clutch splines?

Re: I'm Baaaaaaa-aack!

... I reckon the green would have sold much better if it had been a vibrant metallic colour. BTW - has anyone heard of that issue I mentioned with the fuel pump? ... Agreed. My Rockster2 is green, and - despite BMW's attempt to make the Rockster urbane edgy - I'm not sure Citrus Metallic fits the b...

Re: I'm Baaaaaaa-aack!

Looks good! UK bike? Does not look like it's seen much winter weather.

I took your advice a few years ago and bought Brembo-version calipers that need rebuild, then replace Tokicos on my Rockster2.

Congrats on the new bike.

Re: 14 month lay off

I dread starting my K1300 after long resting period, especially when conditions are cold. The first few seconds after starting are traumatic, waiting for cam chain tensioner to pressurize with cold thick oil, and cam chain makes horrific rattle. I'm thinking about installing the manual tensioner as ...

Re: Restoration Project R1150R

I'd offer $500 as is, source a used tank, make a rat bike or cafe or unique custom.

For <$2500 you can find old R1150R examples that require little time & effort to rehab.

Yes - a beefy setup, two scoops of shock/vibration isolation and protection.

Re: Skid Plate

Update: I had found one on ebay and bought it. However USPS lost it at the local facility. Got a refund from the seller and he had gotten insurance so he got paid. With none come available I went up to Ozzie's BMW and bought all the parts for the skid plate on a 2004 R1150GS. They where all still a...

Re: Alaska (Tires)

Forgot about those post. Trying for a tire without having to change during the trip. Not sure if the 80's would last 7,000 miles, maybe the 70's would but they haven't gotten the best reviews. The Pirelli scorpion trail 2's aren't good off pavement, tried them on our XR's last year. Shinko 705 come...

Yep, got a gallon jug in garage right now.
I worked for Mobil when Rotella T, Delo 400, and Delvac 1300 Super were battling for commerical application supremacy. I've used all three products for Oilhead crankcase oils in 15W-40.
