Re: I want to talk about knives
Yes, one handed opening and closing is a requirement for my pocket knives. I don't have any with assisted opening, but I'd like to get one someday. I also carry a Gerber EVO JR sometimes: http://images.gerbertools.com/Md/2291_1/01493_Gerber_EVO_JR_SERRATED_EDGE.jpg It's just a little bigger than my ...

Poly V-Belt (Alternator Belt) Replacement and Tensioning
Earlier this year I replace my belt. I had the tank off at the time (installing new omegas thanks to a broken QD) and I tried to tension the belt just by loosening the 3 nuts and prying the alternator up. It just didn't seem to slide enough. I ended up using the torque wrench method described in the...

Ahhh, the good old Ka-Bar. (bottom knife)
That middle knife looks like what I've been after. Is the top edge a false one?

I want to talk about knives
http://www.axcessmypics.com/photos/photo01/60/89/5b82ebfdc326.jpg This is my every day carry (EDC?) pocket knife. It is a Timberline "Timberlite" that I got from LL Bean or someplace several years ago for $12. I has the Neeley Lock system but that is worn and it doesn't truly lock anymore...

Re: Planning a long trip, need help!
Don't stress over the QD's. If they fail on the road, a repair can be made with 5/16 fuel line, couplers, clamps and vice grips (to pinch the line while you cut off the old QD) available from the nearest auto parts store. Once the bike is off, the line pressure is lowered and the leaking stops or is...

This post was originally in the R1150R forum. I moved it here, but left a "shadow" in that forum.
Boxer, your post was in off-topic and the subject was about getting a new forum so I left it here. I should reply there and mention we have this new forum.

Came across this site and have been watching some of the BMW episodes. Very interesting to see the manufacturing facility at work.

Re: Swollen Omega Viton O-Ring
Would dabbing some petroleum jelly (a.k.a. Vaseline) on the o-rings help when reconnecting? I have always done this mostly as an attempt to keep from pinching one. Also would the coating help with the Ethanol exposure?

Re: A Rebel in the Family
This is great!! Riding with your significant other is a true joy. My wife took the MSF last year and I got her a 250 also, except it is the clutchless scooter type, a Yamaha Morphous. Outfit them with the right gear, get them the right training, and be very, very patient. They'll be nervous. They'll...

Just wanted to say thank you. Doug did up our bandwidth limit, that's why we came back online before the first of the month (today). So all of the contributions are helping. Thanks to you and all of you others who have donated.
