Re: Anybody else preorder the Mudsling rear fender guard?

good for you. the puig is twice the price and covers the rear wheel which in my opinion takes away from the open, single sided swingarm look of the R.

Adjusting Water Boxer valves

Check out the Spring 2017 issue of BMW Motorcycle Magazine for an excellent review of how to adjust the DOHC valves on our waterboxers. The good: the interval between adjustments is twice as long. The bad: the requirement and cost of specialty tools will run you close to $300. yikes! I have not inve...

Re: Anybody get any thing motorcycle related for X-Mas?

you have a lot of "kids" to buy for. i forgot to add that i received a NOCO G1100 Battery Charger to replace my 15 yr. old charger. it handles lead acid, gel, etc. all the way to Lithium. has a diagnostic mode and can fully charge a drained battery. pretty slick.

Re: Anybody else preorder the Mudsling rear fender guard?

that's interesting. the wunderlich product is a virtual copy and costs $129 US, which is the same cost for the machineart product. maybe i'm looking at the wrong wunderlich product? part # 41590202? when did the exchange rate between euro and dollars become that different? nice to have other options...

Congrats... what color? post some pics when you get the time. the mods you are making are pretty new to the R world. it will be a good reference for others when you report how they worked out. some folks like the barkbuster handguards made in Australia. (http://www.barkbusters.net)

Re: Sargent seat

Sargent makes a great aftermarket seat. I've had several over the years and they have great stitching, material and padding. I put over 80K on a R1150R with a Sargent and before selling, took it off and put the OEM seat on. Sold the Sargent on eBay for couple hundred. I've done this a couple times a...

Added a USB port

Nothing earthshaking about this add on, but it is becoming more important to have a USB port for phone, camera, gps, etc. The USB port pictured here is "water resistant" not water proof, but has a nice fitting cover and it is behind the wind screen. I used heat shrink tubing to cover the w...

Lots of things on the R-LC are just nicely engineered

This isn't going to give you any new info about changing the high or low beam bulb, that is already in the owners manual. It is just about appreciating how some things on the R-LC are pretty cool and easier to attend to than the earlier generation R's. It also isn't about starting a thread war on wh...

Haynes Serv/Repair Manual R1200 LC twins - '13-'16

Bought the new Haynes service manual for LC twins the other day and wanted to share some impressions. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e359/jhwr1150r/IMG_0846_zpskwdxxbda.jpg * First the cost was $45.95 from Amazon. That's pricey. * the type font must be a 9 pt. or 8 pt. I'm not a font expert but s...

Re: Remus Hexacone Titanium Slip-On Exhaust Review (RT)

Evan, my comments about a pipe being a waste of time were not appropriate. you should spend your hard earned dollars on your bike as you see fit, and not be judged. forums are a fun place to exchange ideas and get information, not for me or any other person to be irresponsible in their comments. (ki...

Re: Remus Hexacone Titanium Slip-On Exhaust Review (RT)

very thorough review. i appreciate your relaxed delivery and good steady camera work. At nearly $800 that pipe and pretty much all others are a colossal waste of money. Weight savings is nil, increase in torque and HP are minimal... all your paying for is a louder sound. Aren't beemer riders suppose...

turned 11k on the east rim road @ Crater Lake National Park. best bike, I mean BEST BIKE ever owned. Re: Is this forum dead?

agreed. aren't we lucky (so far) to have such an amazing bike? 7000 miles and zero issues. i've traded bikes with riding buddies on day trips and they are amazed on how smooth, fast and techno the new R is.

it will take a heck of bike to knock this one of its perch in my garage.

no one has posted since January... and not many posts at that either. maybe the bike is so damn good that there is not a lot of need to share information on farkles, fixes and fantasy.

Report on MachineArt's MudSling rear inner fender

Finally got a free moment to install the MudSling on my R1200R LC today. And that is what it took ... well, maybe a couple moments. The packaging, instructions and quality of the item is excellent. I only wish that all motorcycle accessories came with detailed, colored pictures and simple step-by-st...

Anybody else preorder the Mudsling rear fender guard?

Placed my order yesterday for MachineartMoto's rear suspension guard for the R12R LC. Looks like it will be a nice addition to our LC's. Although it is another head shaker why BMW did not provide more coverage for the ESA unit and shock. At least the old R had a large flap that did the trick. Maybe ...
