Noise coming from gauge area

I picked up a newer R bike after not having my '02 for over a year. 2005 in good shape and low miles (compared to most of us). when i run it up to 4000 rpm and back off the gas there is a noise that comes from the gauge area. not the steering, but the gauges. the gauges read fine... no noticeable fl...

Re: Am I a newbie since I have not posted for a couple years

thanks for taking the time to look at the TwistyRoads website. it is getting closer. I know they are partnering with a major mapping company to access their software at a better rate. i believe they want to have a presence at the National Rally in Oregon this July.

Re: Mounting and balancing rear tire.

That is pretty amazing that a shop would not have the cones & adapters to balance single sided swingarm wheels. The cost for a quality tire balancer with adapters are under $250. I know guys who have them at home shops. I don't know of any shop in my area that can't do this. They are losing an o...

Re: Two-up Riding

Right here on the forum are the specs for the R1150R. 525 lbs. wet with a capacity of 992 lbs. That means you have 467 lbs. left for your weight and your passenger plus gear. Maintain your tires at the right pressure and minimize the stuff you carry and you will be fine. I find the R to be a very se...

Re: Fuel filter and parts for 2002 R1150R

Don't pay to have this procedure done. The hardest part is getting gas out of the tank. Buy yourself a nice syphon hose and your on your way. I don't think it is hard to get the fuel filter out of the tank or to get it back in. You can do this in 45 min. or less. Changing out your filter should beco...

Re: Does this make you nervous? (R1150R bike lift)

Oliver, here is the website for the lift: http://www.bikerise.co.za/ Again, i bought mine from the US distributor which at the time (6 years ago) they were in North Carolina. I also only paid $600 and I didn't realize the price had gone up so high. When I am working on the bike i just use my metal w...

Re: Am I a newbie since I have not posted for a couple years

well if a navigation engineer thought the site was OK then it must be pretty good. i have two engineers in my family and they are hard to please. :D Sweatmark - it would be great to hook up for a ride. I lost my best riding partner when my bro retired and moved south. Let me know. The mapping site t...

Re: Fuel Filter Replacement

A little off topic, but a reminder to start planning on changing out your fuel filter more often than the recommended schedule. Ethanol based gas absorbs water from the air and should not be stored for long periods of time. It really plays havoc with fuel filters. Just last year the EPA approved the...

Re: Am I a newbie since I have not posted for a couple years

When you said "cool stuff", were you referring to the mapping website? I do love my beemer. Have been to dealers several times to trade it in and walked out because there is nothing wrong with my bike and it does everything really well. I have kept up with sport bikes in the twisty's and t...

Am I a newbie since I have not posted for a couple years?

I really enjoy this site and have made use of many of the farkles you folks have come up with. I just finished installing a plexiglass shield/shelf in my left case that keeps all those items that used to rattle around in a nice tidy upright position... you know small can of honda cleaner, first aid ...
