I just did mine. No difference if you are just pushing fluid through. The procedure was just like a non abs brake flush.

Re: Side or centre stand?
Well, I haven't heard of any members complaining that the engine itself died. Just about every other problem, but never engine death.
Engine's very well designed.
Wouldn't worry about the side stand or the center stand.

Re: Oil change
Stay away from the synthetics. Causes oil leaks everywhere...eventually...for our bikes. Regular dino oil at regular intervals is best for our bikes. You'll probably end up selling the bike before you see any return on your money using synthetic oil. Well, it may cost you more than the increase in c...

Gas spill on bike
Hey guys, just had gasoline sprayed all over my bike by a gas attendant. I exchanged a few unpleasantries with the guy. I told him I would pump the gas, but he insisted that he had to do it. Is this true in New Jersey? By the way it's below freezing and I don't think I can wash the bike right now. A...

Re: F800ST vs F800GS
Depending on what dual sports your friends are riding and how comfortable you feel on the dirt will be the deciding factor for the F800GS. For serious dirt riding I don't recommend the F800GS. It's very capable, a little lighter than the R1150R, but don't confuse it for a dirt bike. Also, damage wil...

Re: R1150R vs F800GS
I did 2 consecutive 4 day trips to Canada and I have to say the comfort factor regarding the riding position for the F800GS was fantastic. (6', 200lb, 32" inseam) :D I really had no aches/pains which I usually do after long rides. All my joints were fine. HOWEVER, my a$$ was not happy. Painful ...

Re: R1150R vs F800ST
Had a 2002 r1150r and now have a 2011 F800GS. Is it me or does the F800's seem easier / less fatiguing to ride? I like the new bike... a lot.
My 2 cents.

Re: Torque values for engine bolt.
Sorry, foolish request. "Recommended values were on the instruction sheet". Just to be sure, I dialed the torque values down a notch, used blue locktite, and marked the bolts with a permanent marker. No movement. Excellent. I even dropped the bike on both sides within days of each other th...

Torque values for engine bolt.
Hi again, was wondering if anyone can give me a clue as to what the torque values were for the engine bolts. I just received the swmotech crash guards for the f800gs, but the online salesman didn't want to tell me what the torque values should be. He said look at your manuel or ask the dealer. The d...

New F800GS
I just got my 2011 White F800GS to replace my R1150R. Very excited. Put on 150 miles. I'm very happy. However, I'm a little uncertain about touching the new electrical system. I want to power my Tom Tom GPS on the left handlebar. Anyone have a simple way to attach the wires (red and black). As you c...

Do you see any oily film on the back part of the engine? Or does your clutch seem to slip a lot? Maybe rear main seal leakage?

Re: New Shock Deals
1. Useful life is anything you can tolerate without the shock leaking. 2. If the handling gets dangerous, or you don't want to ride the bike because the (small) bumps on the road want to make you ride back home. 3. A good set of shocks that are balanced for your weight, load, and riding style are pr...

Warning light?
Hey everyone, I wanted to find out if anyone knows what the red triangular light next to the brake failure light means. It only goes on when I press the brakes. The brake failure light does not go on at all. I thought it was the battery, so I installed a new fully charged battery, but it still happe...

Thanks for the reply. I remember the battery was over 5 years old and it was a little hard starting in the winter. Thanks again to all the good information.

Warning light question
Hey guys, what is that red light with the exclamation point mean? I rode my bike last night it was ok. Then this morning the red light by the brake failure light stayed on. The bike ran fine, but I decided to head back home during rush hour just in case.

Re: Oil Brands
Does the oil brand really matter? The R1150R has a dry clutch so aside from possibly overheating the engine or degrading the oil over time, isn't it nearly bullet proof so long as the right viscosity is used, and change intervals monitored? I'm no expert, but I don't think there was any mention of p...
