Re: Transmission Busted
I am wondering if I should just scrap the bike. I had it for a over five years and put about 40k on it. It was sitting in a garage for 7 years before that, never moving. It is an 18 year old bike. There could be a bunch of other things that will tank soon. I just don't know. Any thoughts appreciated.

Transmission Busted
:-k I have the Year 2000 R1100R. I brought it into the dealer, they opened it up and the transmission (all of it) needed to be replaced. They said it would cost upward of 5k. I decided that with an 18-year-old bike it wasn't worth it. It's now sitting in my garage and I have no idea what to do with ...

Re: Windshield (re)installation
I am having a similar problem and don't know what to do. The bracket that goes under the bars on the left side broke. I bought a new one at the dealer. As I try to loosen the nut underneath the bolt just spins. I can see it spinning but I can't stop it because it's the type which is flush with the t...

Re: Windshield Removal Problem
Thanks. I think the issue is that what I am seeing on top of the bars is a cap on the allen heads. I tried to pry one of them off but it seems to be stuck. Anybody know how to pry the caps off? I just ended up scratching the chrome.

Windshield Removal Problem
I have a 2000 r1100r with the stock windshield. It's very noisy and I want to take it off. The problem is I don't seem to be able to loosen the nuts under the handlebars that attach the bracket to the bike. I can turn the nuts but they don't come off. Do I need to somehow pop off the circular tabs o...

Re: Welcome New Members (and old) - Introduce Yourself!
Hello. I just joined and I also just bought a 2000 r1100r from a friend for a steal. She just wanted it out of her garage. It only has 11k miles on it. I am excited and also scared to death. I used to ride a lot up until 15 years ago when I sold my 1985 Yamaha 700cc sport bike. Before that I road ar...
