Re: hesitation when getting on the throttle
And so.. My 04' R1150R is still hesitating under load when it's warm (both weather and / or bike). My mechanic "swears" the coils are fine.. But.. Plugs done, fuel and air filters replaced, injectors synced (and confirmed clear), and the tank has been drained and sludge cleared. At this po...

My 04' R1150R is the most fun I've ever had on two wheels.. She's got 25k on the clock, so we are just getting started..

Re: hesitation when getting on the throttle
Checked the fuel lines, throttle cables, breather hoses, and reset the Motronic... No luck. Still stumbles when whacking open the throttle. Bummer..
I'm gonna pull the tank again and see if anything is loose under there, but I doubt it.
bleh.. I hate tracking down stuff like this..

hesitation when getting on the throttle
Okey Dokey.. Last weekend I pulled the tank on my 04' to swap the battery. I followed the direction that I was pointed to and the process seemed to go smoothly. Even the fuel line disconnect and reconnect went pretty easy. New battery is in a all is well.. So I thought. Now however there is a proble...

Re: replacing the battery
The job is done. The step by step link was awesome. Sadly my bike was missing a couple of washers already. I will get some replacements and go through and put them in place as needed. For now new battery installed with a battery tender line in place so I can leave her parked without this happening a...

replacing the battery
Hi all,
I'm replacing my R1150R's battery tomorrow. I've never done this on the BMW and the online tips are confusing. Some say I do have to remove the tank, others say just loosen and lift.
I am confused. Can anyone give me the straight info (and steps) to getting this done?

I ran a dose of Seafoam through the fuel system, and reset the Motronic, and the noise is gone..

Re: Knocking (piston slap?).. new noise..
Could it have been pinging from pre-detonation? I still get it sometimes when rolling on the throttle too hard to pass at freeway speeds. This is what I was thinking.. (after I posted this).. It sounds like my old Chevelle when the timing was off.. I thought the Motronic was supposed to keep the ti...

Re: Knocking (piston slap?).. new noise..
What year is your bike and the miles? I'm thinking possibly the cam chain tensioner. Could you tell what side it was coming from? I once had a very severe knock that suddenly appeared and thankfully suddenly disappeared. Turned out to probably be a small piece of carbon that broke away from the hea...

Re: Knocking (piston slap?).. new noise..
So.. Today on the freeway I was moving along at about 80 in 6th.. I opened the throttle to pass a car and heard a metallic chatter. It sounds a lot like engine knock, but it's a lot more chattery.. Does not happen at low speed, no matter the rpm's.. Thoughts? I think I'll reset the Motronic tomorro...

Muffler off.. Then on again..
I (as some of you may know from the other threads) pulled the Muffler off my 04' and put on a short tip a bit ago. I have since run three tanks of fuel through it (about 450miles). Today I pulled the tip and put the stock muffler on. The low end rumble was nice, but there was (as has been noticed) l...

Re: Muffler Removal - a Definitive Answer (finally!)
priapismic's post serves well the saga regarding removal of the muffler and potential damage to the engine via added heat, et. al. From my perspective I feel that it is important to understand, in a simplistic way, what is taking place. First and foremost, in the oilheads we have a very rudimentary...

On the topic of fuel air mix. After resetting the computer I'm getting a lot of popping on decel. Shouldn't the motronic reset cure this?
