Re: 2011 - R1200r K27 - Code 23971 -Rear Wheel Speed Sensor
Its poo! Toss it and put a new one in. Mine went around 27,000 mi. R1200R 2011. ABS & Caution Light flashing. Also I lost both my speedo & tach. They dropped like stones. Luckily I had my GPS so speed wasn't an issue. New sensor and all was right. Now at 56,000 mi and still fine.

Re: Rattle in right cylinder
With the change to the cam head engine they changed the mounting frame for the wind screen. Your old screen will bolt right up to the new frame. My original bike was an '09. I moved up to an '11 and had to wait for the new frame. Ironically the '12 bike was out before the windshield frame for the '1...

Re: Rattle in right cylinder
Pull the valve cover and check the ribs inside the cover for chips. My 09 went over on the rt side (level ground, side stand, not running????) The cover got scuffed fairly good so I bought a new cover. When I popped the old one off there was a chunk missing from one of the inner ribs. I never found ...

Re: 2015 R1200R Water Boxer
unfortunately they couldn't figure out how to fit the telelever arms and the radiator in there together. I love the telelever as I find it to be very stable and predictable. I guess a serious test ride (2hrs minimum) will be in order to see if this new version is as stable.

Fuel Strip finally addressed by BMW..sort of
Just received a letter in the mail today from BMW formally recognizing the fuel strip issue. However, the letter states that they will now extend warranty coverage for it for a period of 12 years. If you ran out of warranty & had to pay to get it fixed you are able to be reimbursed your cost. Th...

Re: '11 R1200R - GPS Power Outlet Flaky
Way too much work. I just used the vehicle interface cable that came with my Garmin 220. I ran it with the wire bundle that goes under the left side of the fuel tank and put a right angle can bus connector on it. Plug it into the can bus under the left side of the seat and it goes on and off with th...

I'm about 3000 into a pair of PR4. They twitch more on tar snakes. Grip Great in the rain or dry and will corner till you drag peg. I also am getting cupping on the front faster than the PR3. The 3's didn't cup till almost 8000 mi. The real test for me is will the 4's pass 10K. I love the continenta...

Re: Clinking / clunking at idle??
My 2011 chatters a bit loudly when idling in neutral with the clutch out. I can usually settle it out by pulling the clutch and releasing it again. I'm at 38,400 mi currently. I had a friend with an 2009 GS that had the issue but the noise didn't go away with a clutch pull. It turned out to be clip ...

Re: Could this be my clutch or something else?
Also Note that BMW has a habit of tying wiring in too tight. If the bike has fallen over, been set down, dropped, or crashed it may have torn ignition wire. It will work fine till you put heavy load on it then it will sputter and generally have no pop past 1/2 throttle.

Re: Engine noise at startup
Its the belt most likely. as long as it goes away in a few seconds you are fine. If it persists more than a few seconds I'd take it in. Off the cuff I think they recommend replacing the belt every 24K miles which is about 40,000 km.

Re: Question about Warranty
You have nothing to worry about as long as you are in the warranty period. I haven't heard anything about that type of leak with this version of the bike. I think his hesitancy may have been simply that he didn't have a complete answer from the mechanic yet as they are still in dis assembly mode. It...

Re: Replacement front rotors
They will tell you nothing is wrong with the brakes. Pull the pads and clean them. then use a scotch brite pad on the rotors. this should improve the pulse problem. the rotors tend to get a slight uneven build up.over time and the scotch pad will remove this.

Stalling hapend to me few times, that vas my mistake with clutching at take off.One plate dry clutch is a different(not as much forgiving as a multiple plate oil clutch). Steve H. If you have ethanol in your gas, you can go to pure-gas.org to find a station near you that sells the good stuff. They also have a smart phone app you can use that gives you directions to the nearest ethanol-free gas when you are out on the road. I've used it successfully to find the nearest good g...

I'm just wondering how many folks with DOHC engines experience this? I have a 2011 R1200R. My main riding bro has a 2012 R1200RT and we both experience this a couple times a week. It usually occurs within 20 miles of start up. Not necessarily the first run of the day either. It can happen any time w...

Recently i have been hearing a bit of clatter from the bike going over bumps. I thought I was hearing stuff chattering in my panniers but today, I just put the rims back on with new rubber. I walked it out of the garage and hit the front brake and heard a bit of clatter. holding the front brake on &...
