Re: A sad farewell to one of the forums founder members...

I never met Pat in person, but his personality really came through in his participation here. When he moved on from the R1150R, there was a big hole left by the absence of his personality on this board. This is so sad. My heartfelt condolences to all those who knew him, loved him, and will miss him....

Re: Another Danger of Riding...

Egads Herb!!! Isn't motorcycle riding enough risk for you? :o Kidding... I'm glad you woke up in good condition. I am way too familiar with Benadryl sedation. I usually sleep through Christmas visits (cat allergies quickly shut down my lungs) if I go my Mom's or sister's place. Claritin does nothing...

Re: Exhaust and cross country ride ?

The fatigue question is hard to answer. Different windshields, different body shapes and sizes... we all are going to have some significant differences there. The weather will also play a big part in determining how long it takes to fatigue you, no matter what. Are you camping, or staying in hotels?...

7 years...

Can it be really that long? While riding today, I realized that today marked 7 years of having my R1150R. I also wondered if my bike had ever ran so smoothly and nicely... what a good bike. That means its almost been 7 years that I've been hanging out here and yapping about these bikes... what a gre...

+1 ... what boxer said.

I bet if you wiggle the hose clamps you will find at least one clamp that isn't clamping very much.

Those are the Bigass Brass Air Screws. They are the idle adjustment screws on the throttle bodies.

Re: 04' with a healthy appetite for Oil..

If you've only had the bike a month, I bet you just haven't really PERFECTED the vague art of checking the oil level (I hadn't after only a month). I bet that the bike isn't really burning that much, but I believe that it's still probably burning some. I wouldn't start worrying (and spending money) ...

Re: Clutch died today

Nice work, to make it home... :D Now the bad news... Slave is likely shot. I think they run about 150 dollars (not a quote). The master cylinder is usually pretty good (very few people have issues with the master). But the leaky slave has most likely coated the friction surfaces in the clutch with b...

Re: Clutch replacement howto

Yes, that's what I did too. My battery tray took more than a "nudge", that's for sure. I just found it very cumbersome to bend the tray up, and get the bundle of ground wires over the stud, all while pulling off the back half of the bike, while sliding the jack underneath the transmission....

Re: Clutch replacement howto

The guide pins aren't just a good idea, they are pretty much required. Make sure they are long enough, or they won't be of any help. If you pull the whole deal off as a single unit, I hope your helpers listen better than mine did. :-X Afterwards my friend said, "You told us exactly what to do, ...

Re: What is nipple for?

I seriously doubt the engine sputter could have blown the hoses off. I would bet that they just weren't replaced on the TB, by the dealer. I saw my local dealer forget to attach Mark's (you guys remember "mad1150") tubes once. A 1200 idle isn't really all that fast (1100 being spec, so not...
