Re: How do you cope without centerstand?

My R9t doesn't burn any more oil than my previous R1200Rs with the same DOHC engine. In fact, after only 3,700 miles it's remarkably frugal in its oil consumption. I may have added a half a quart once in all that time.

I don't miss the center stand at all.

Re: Is BMW weaning us off Telelever?

Sander - when the linked brakes were first released there was a writeup on them from BMW that said the amount of linking varied - depending on speed and braking force applied. The idea being to get the maximum braking from both brakes without either locking up before the other and triggering the AB...

Re: Is BMW weaning us off Telelever?

All else aside, am I the only one that thinks the R1200R looks better than the R9T? To me, the gold forks look a bit parts binnish and the overall design doesn't flow as well. JMO. It's a matter of taste and I think both look really great in their own way. I loved the R1200R. Had three of them but ...

Re: Is BMW weaning us off Telelever?

Sander, does the RnineT have linked brakes like the R or did you have to "retrain" your right foot? I have seen some discussion about that, but no definitive answer. It does not have linked brakes. On the R12R I was always lazy about using the rear brakes. I knew they activated when I gra...

Re: Is BMW weaning us off Telelever?

After hearing everyone sing the praises of the telelever I have to say I don't miss it one bit on the RnineT. Maybe the telelever is better than USD forks, maybe not. I just know I much prefer the handling of the RnineT. That could be due to other factors such as the change in the geometry but I don...

On the morning of departure keep your helmet in hand and tell him it looks like he has a low tire. While he's checking it say "Let's race" put on your helmet and take off.

Re: Anyone drop/crash their R12R whilst with BMW cases fitte

I would point out that they can be repaired and repainted. I totally trashed a set when my bike tumbled about 150 feet down the road, side over side, without me. The dealer ordered the parts that were broken and reassembled them. They then went to a motorcycle paint shop where the outer clam shells ...

Re: I'm selling my 07' R1200R.

Finn,

In the photo of Nancy's new bike on the R1200R photo thread, it looks like you've mounted a black box in place of the passenger seat on the R9T. Am I seeing things? If not, what is it and how did you mount it?

Thanks,

Fuel strip

Does the R nineT have the oft and justifiably maligned fuel strip found on the R12R and other BMWs? I looked at the parts fiche and I could find it on the BMW R12R fiche but couldn't find it on the R nineT diagrams. I also couldn't find any other part that appeared to be tasked with detecting the fu...

Re: 304 miles on tripmeter and showing 159miles to empty..

The group's evil plot to confuse ammolab by adding gas to his tank when he's not around is paying off. What you are describing isn't what I experienced when my fuel strips went bad. When mine went bad, the indicated fuel level would rapidly decline to zero. I think others have had the indicated fuel...

Re: Test Drive Comments

When I saw the bike, I didn't mind the tail light. It's actually pretty cool. The thing that bothered me was that it was at the end of that long fender sticking out behind the seat. The turn signals though have no business on the bike and need to be replaced with something smaller and higher tech. I...

Re: Test Drive Comments

I didn't realize that you could lose the bars for the passenger foot pegs and keep the pillion seat installed. I thought the black bars that hold the passenger foot pegs also supported the pillion seat. I love it with the pillion seat without the pillion pegs. I suspect I'll set mine up without the ...

Re: Test Drive Comments

The dealership doubles as a motorcycle museum so the owner likes to keep motorcycles around to look at. That's fine for him since he has about 200 motorcycles. Sucks for me since I have precisely zero motorcycles and riding weather has come to Georgia. Here's a question I'd be curious to know the an...

Test Drive Comments

I had given up motorcycling a year ago after several years on three R1200Rs including a 2009 and two 2011s. However, I always loved the LoRider Concept Bike and I've had it as my laptop wallpaper for years. I knew the R nine T would suck me back in. Went to buy one today but they wouldn't sell it to...

Motorcycle trailer causes accident

I found this interesting but perhaps that's because it reinforces my bias against motorcycle trailers. By Mike Morris The Atlanta Journal-Constitution A longtime Paulding County funeral director was killed Thursday in what investigators are calling a “freak accident” on I-75 in Bartow County. The wr...

That's the problem with moose. Their faces are always covered with moose snot and they simply refuse to wipe their big noses.
