Nice to hear you're back out on the road, Wayne (and working too!).
I changed my QDs a couple of years back with some sturdy chromed brass ones.

Hope to see a New Jeffers arise from the ashes of Bike Trader, and as the poet would say (not sure if it's Homer or Clapton) regale us with Tales of Brave Ulysses on two wheels. And I, too, have a few years on you! You're a young man. Having parted with Stella! a few months back I can tell you ther...

Re: A very sad day today.....
Thanks Wayne and all those others who have replied. The 1150 goes on Monday to a guy who is flying in from Spain, an English ex-pat now living near Malaga. So my BMW (Black Magic Woman) is off to sunnier climes and a new owner. Wayne, I sincerely hope that you make a full recovery from your recent e...

A very sad day today.....
I have finally had to admit that the combination of a permanent injury to my foot and a very unpredictable back is not going to allow me to ride a big Beemer again. So today I've had to put the R1150R up for sale. I've done a lot to it and I'm going to miss not having a big bike to ride.....fi...

I use a worn nylon scouring pad and Solvol Autosol first and then Maguires or similar.. It requires a lot of elbow grease to shine them up
but they can be made to look as good as chrome. It helps greatly if you have access to a motorcycle bench!

Re: My body is wearing out!! Getting old!
First, apologies to sjbmw for not replying to his post in a timely manner. I do eat only what my body needs with almost no sugar or salt. Pretty much no red meat but lots of fish. The only fried food I eat is a portion of french fries with a meal maybe twice a month. I also started going to the gym!...

Re: UK Advice
Hi! Agree that Cheltenham is a nice area. Personally, I would sell the Fiat rather than bring it to the UK. A left hand drive car is not too popular in the UK and especially if it can be obtained here with right hand drive. It also affects insurance premiums and may double the amount you have to pay...

Re: Fuel Injector Cleaning
That may be a comment on the effectiveness of Seafoam.
I run a Millers fuel additive through all of my vehicle engines, both diesel and petrol (gas) which keeps the injectors
clean.

Yep! I too have an MRA screen, a VNTB. I like the adjustability of the air flow. See this for a picture: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/mra-variotouringscreen-style-vtnb-windshield-for-naked-sport-bikes-cruisers-enduro-and-dual-sport-motorcycles and here for another thread on this site: http://www.r...

Re: Question about aging headlamp bulbs and eyes.
I can only speak for what I use in the UK. Osram Nightbreakers which are 90% brighter yet use the same current as standard. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Osram-Night-Breaker-64193NBP-Headlight/dp/B003Y7FKTC One thing I wouldn't do. Put in higher wattage bulbs....the stock wiring may not be up for the extr...

Re: New guy here
I have a 2001 with only around 15,000 miles on it now! Love it! Handling is sublime and the ability to brake well into a curve is welcome, although, thankfully, not often required! It's a push-rod engine so it will be a little noisy, the left pot 'tick' is common. I have an excellent private enginee...

Coupla things I'm not too sure about... Bearing in mind it's supposed to be a retro stylee....I think the headlight could be mounted a few inches higher to stop it looking like a Duke Monster.....I have never liked this trend to mount the headlight low. Perrenial complaint is that the mirrors don't ...

Apologies for not being around.
One thing after another here in the UK! PC went bang (literally!!) PSU fault dumped mains on the MoBo and NOTHING survived.....both hard drives were screwed and one was the back up drive! Then I had to have an operation on my right eye to get rid of a rapidly (3 months) developing cataract and impla...

Good to hear Wayne! As was said above: Don't try to do too much at once...gently gently!
Obviously no problems with anti-freeze leaking either!!

FWIW Nm stands for Newton /Metres.
1 Nm = 0.737562175569 ft-lb.
There are a few conversion charts for download on Google.

Re: This may be normal, but...(clutch activation when cold)
I have to say that my 2002 R1150R has never given me that problem
but the first thing I had done by my BMW privateer engineer on purchasing the bike was to change all fluids.
7000 miles later she runs like a dream. I would suggest double-dipping the clutch when cold.
