Re: Slight hesitation from tickover as you open throttle

Listening to the audio I can hear one cylinder not running as the throttle is applied and I can guarantee it was the right side TB with no free-play -because- the right TB opening would only add more air while the left TB throttle where the TPS switch is mounted remains at idle mixture. Besides that...

I have a few very important (the tiny steel ball) instructional pics that will help a lot in taking things apart. Re: Clutch master cylinder problem

Mr.Frequent, Yes, the idea is the same and that dry start fluid charge procedure was taken from the front brake M/C write-up and it slipped by me in the procedural transfer. Actually, the clutch lever switch does not click until the lever is pulled almost to the bar-grip, so the starter will work i...

**** Portions of text Copy-n-Pasted from old posts: **(edited 12-24-20 to correct and add more descriptions)** Bleeding the clutch slave is very easy, even with the entire system brand new clean, dry -and- with no special bleeding equipment available to you. What has to be understood is that air an...

Re: Changed fuel line quick-connectors, now it won't start.

1) Make sure the fuel pump connector is fully plugged in -AND- there are NO plug terminal wire push outs. 2) Could be air still in the system. Turn the key and kill switch on in neutral and listen for the fuel pump whirring and then seconds later do its normal time out stop. Then turn the key on and...

Re: Oil cooler cover fixings

There is a very necessary washer that goes with each screw! It fits snugly to the threaded screw diameter between the plastic cover and it partially covers the rubber Well-Nut head so it provides a solid "stop" for the Well-Nut's threaded insert. The washer is necessary so the Well-Nut doe...

Re: ticking valves, left side after adjustment

Since the valve clearances check OK It doesn’t seem possible they are making the noise. I would look at the throttle body shaft where the butterfly screws may not be tight or loosened up when the exposed threaded screw ends were peened over, or did you use Red Loctite? Recheck the TB sync first. You...

Doug & Moderators, I was wondering what happened. Like my signature says I've been a free side member since 9-10-2001, the day before the 9-11 attacks. Since that time I have enjoyed reading and contributing toward the solutions. Apparently the contribution was really appreciated and many years ...

Wayne, We remember your hospital stay and the surprise on your face when my wife Ann, Beemeridian (our driver) and I walked into your hospital room. We had to hide our shock at just how debilitating it was watching as a nurses assistant s-l-o-w-l-y had to spoon feed you! I don't remember if it hurt...

Tundra Dweller, About changing the slave system DOT4 fluid, here is a detailed procedure that ensures you do all the right things in the proper sequence while using less than one 12 oz bottle of DOT4 fluid -and- without any special tools needed. My advice, because of the age of the bike, is that yo...

Just turned 73 this May and not as fast or rock stable as I used to be. Even passed up attending many of the recent bashes because of the long drive and serious dangers possible in the group "rides". I joined the original site on the day before the Sept 11, 2001 attacks so I've been in on ...

Phil, I saw this about 3:30am the day after you posted it and thought since it corrected itself, it was just as you guessed . . . moisture that got blown away or minute corrosion that got pushed away. Thinking it over now, I recommend you pull the tank cover off and check the battery terminals for ...

dbrick, Being it was so long ago, my guess is that the battery was replaced soon after. Your readings: "ignition OFF 12.3v, ignition ON drops to 11.5 , then over twenty seconds rises back to 12.3v. Cranking drops to 9.8v , and stayed there for the 3 or 4 seconds I held the start button down&qu...

Re: Alternator belt and a chirp

Photoguy, Your belt is definitely a little loose, most likely from years of wear. It squeaks on start-up because the alternator is in max output mode for every RPM it is at to replace the battery power of idle time normal discharge -and- the output voltage degrading big chunk of wattage the starter...

Soliton,
I remember considering exactly what you described, drilling drain holes at the low point of the seamless fin joining point. For some reason I did not do it, maybe that it was not needed unless we washed the engine. Can you show us some pics?

Oh yeah...How do the lines remove from the fender (black clips)? Going from doing this over 10 years ago :-k Look at the underside of the fender and you'll see a split cone shaped barb. Each half of that split cone is attached to one side of the brake hose clamp. With the fender on I believe it wil...

Re: Throttle cable adjustment.

Let me see if I get this right. Our barometers measure atmospheric pressure from a vacuum to 29.92 inches of Mercury (Hg Specific Gravity=13.633) a pressure that would be equal to 407.9 inches of water (SG=1.0). That also means that a differential water manometer is 13.633 times more accurate than t...
