Re: Misfire/rough running

Miraculously the issue hasn't raised it's ugly head since I posted the original query, so I haven't had chance to try any of the tests.
Was going to say I was looking forward to sorting out this issue but to be honest, of it's gone away I'm happy. LOL

Re: The LC forum is a ghost town

@sykospain I had the same experience at the same dealers. Can't fault them. Bought a new LC Exclusive Dec 23 2016, had it 3 months, rode it for 1,700 miles and sent it back. It rusted, rotted and bubbled paint everywhere. I did enjoy it but within a few weeks the switchgear self destructed, and then...

These were on my '07 R1200R - I haven't done the ones on my '12 R12R yet. Is the sleeve plastic or perhaps black anodized aluminum?[/quote]
I would say plastic.

Re: Misfire/rough running

Don, I've just had a look at the LH stepper and the sleeve that looks like brass in your photos is a black plastic. Were the photos taken with a previous bike?

Re: Misfire/rough running

Thanks Don.
I'll keep all this in mind. With the issue bring random it may take some time to diagnose.
I may jump the gun and regrease the steppers to remove one possible cause.

Re: Misfire/rough running

It's a 2012 model that had a previous owner. He rode the 2,661 miles.

It's obviously not been ridden regularly as can be seen by mileage.

Misfire/rough running

I've had this issue 3 or 4 times since I bought the bike at the beginning of July. It happens when starting from cold. It fires up immediately but goes into a chugging mode as if running on 1 cylinder. The rev counter bounces between 1K and 3K. Blipping the throttle will allow you to pull away but t...

August 1 or April 1?

Woke this morning, fired up the tablet and this week's Motorcycle News (UK) has a Harley adventure bike on the cover.
So apart from being the fugliest bike I've seen for many a year this has to be a wind up. Tell me it's All Fools Day, please!

Re: In search of a Low Seat

Have you a local seat guy who could scoop out a section to get it lower.? All the seats use the same base so there's plenty of padding to play around with if you've got the high seat. Just remember that the comfort part is at the top so remove foam from the bottom.

In my many years in the motor/bike trade I've never used an OEM bearing unless it was the only available option. Just buy a bearing from a decent brand and you should have no problems. I know a guy with an F800GS that has covered over 120,000 miles and has the usual problem with headstock bearings t...

Re: Back in the fold

I've got the large BMW rear bag and it's really good for touring. The only downside is the lack of security.

Risers and Flap Valve

Went to visit my local exhaust fabrication guy this morning and he swaged out a piece of 60mm tube to 62.5mm to replace the flap valve. So that and the cable are tucked away in the cupboard. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1788/43382400851_688b226d48_c.jpg Then fitted the Rox risers. Much more comfor...

Re: Front Brake Reservoir Gunk

I've spent some time today flushing through the fluid. Surprisingly I've not seen anything come through the system and the lever is firm. I've seen some bikes that have a plastic/polystyrene 'float' in the reservoir and my first thought was that there was originally one in the reservoir and it had d...

The bike has only done 2,759 miles and had a brake fluid change at 1,650 in 2014.

Re: Back in the fold

Here are photos as requested. I'm sure it looks like every other red R1200R. I hope you noticed the BMW tail box Don. It's on for the moment but I'm afraid when it gets time to tour your 'favourite' alloy monster will take pride of place. LOL https://farm1.staticflickr.com/840/29403096778_05bf62d96f...

Re: OBD2 v 911

According to the website it does just about everything you listed including the ABS bleed function.

I'll post more when I have had chance to use it.
