R1200R standard height seat, fits '07, $90 + half shipping - SOLD

Used, clean, normal height seat for R1200R. It fits my 2007, and I suspect also following years, but I don't know up to what year.

Asking $90 and shared shipping, i.e. I pay half and the buyer pays half. I can provide pics upon interest.

Encouragement to change spark plugs

The recommended interval is 24k miles. I waited 26k and noticed a pronounced roughness when starting from standing, sometimes even at speeds. I changed the spark plugs and it's like a new bike. Doing it at 24k would have been at a point where the smoothness of the engine still was not affected that ...

Re: throttle sync DOHC and GS-911

I assume it's the same on hex and camhead, but I can't speak with certainty. I have a hexhead. On the hexhead, one uses the gs-911 to calibrate (or park or whatever the correct term is) the steppers. The gs-911 then tells you to connect your balancer, twin max in your case, start the engine, and do ...

Transmission and final drive oil

Is the recommendation for the R1200R still to use a synthetic 75/140 in the transmission and a 75/90 in the final drive? Are there additional letter designations one has to look out for? Can't remember. Something GL? Also, is it still 180ml for the final drive and up to where the thread starts for t...

Overheating?

Has anyone ever overheated the R1200 engine? I was stuck in heavy interstate stop and go traffic due to an accident for 20-25 minutes or so in 85-90 degree outside temps. By the end of this my temp gauge was two notches above the first mark, still below the top mark, but the engine started sounding ...

Re: Is anyone ever here?

Same here. Used to be here every day. May be that some of the most active people (forum-wise and road-wise) left. There were a number of 'sold the bike' posts also over the months, so less of a community, I guess. I don't have bike problems, still have the same 07, and I am not riding as much as I u...

Re: increased MPG of late

I wouldn't worry about the bike or anything having gone mad. As the last response pointed out, there are likely benign reasons for this. What I'd do is do a manual calculation, i.e. not rely on the display only but calculate the consumption over 2-3 tanks by hand.

Re: I am an old new guy

What everyone else said, plus, because I had that problem, give it a good look over for leaks also under the engine along where the engine and transmission components connect. I needed some engine seals replaced and had the ABS pump fail. Those were the only problems I had in 8 years.

Re: 2011 - R1200r - K27 - Rear Main Seal or Counter Balance

Hi and sorry to read about your troubles. I may have had a similar leak with oil around the same place that you report. However, this was years ago on my '07, and I got it fixed under warranty at 10k miles. There is a picture of my leak on this forum here somewhere. I don't know if this applies to y...

Re: May be my ABS?

For closure and proclivity: Got my ABS back. They had it exactly for the advertised time, 5 business days. It's fixed, works, a clean job. Removing it was more than I expected. I reassembled the bike in two leisurely sessions. All in all I estimate I spent 8 hours total including trips to the PC to ...

Re: May be my ABS?

Just saw this, why am I not getting email notifications as I used to when a reply comes in? Short answer, don't know. I'll get my ABS back in a few days, and once I put it back in I can run those tests to see what mine does if that would help you. If that's the case, let me know what you need; I'll ...

Re: May be my ABS?

Thank you, winkeldc. My unit is in transit to MM. Good to hear what you are saying about the quality of the repair. I wonder if with the new screws in place around that brush containment cylinder one could access the brushes without removing the unit. At least it seems one would not have to disconne...

Re: May be my ABS?

I finally took out my ABS unit yesterday. It took me a while to get it all sorted out. There are some bolts in hard to reach spaces, and that required a trip to the hardware store for a short ratchet extension. I think the amount of time and Bavarian cursing that went along with it removed my desire...

Re: May be my ABS?

I highly suggest not hitting the motor housing with a hammer. The motor field is a ceramic magnate. I also think You can repair the stuck brush yourself. I DID and I'm an idiot. I have thought about the DIY route. I've seen a pictorial on youtube that wasn't very explicit. One apparently has to dri...

Re: May be my ABS?

The code: 24048 Power Supply to Pump motor faulty The fault is not present now. Is unfortunately the clue. Every time I've heard of that code it was the brushes on the ABS motor sticking. ModuleMasters can rebuild it for you for a lot less $$ then BMW wants for a new one, and the rebuilt comes with...

Hi MotoMax,
and that's a R1200R? What year? I have ONE plug on the right, not two, and yes, it's a 8mm hex.

Wow, I would not have thought that something like this can happen so quickly, i.e. from 5-10 seconds of the bike running on its side. Best of luck with the replacement / repair / etc.!
