Here is the link I used to repair mine: http://advwisdom.hogranch.com/Wisdom/Paraleler%20tool.html Be sure you have the proper torque wrench, i.e. one that will measure as little as 7 newton-meters. I found the job to be straight forward. I took the rear drive to my dealership and had them install t...

I find it much easier to drive the pin out BEFORE I remove the caliper from its mount. Don't forget to remove the retaining clip before driving out the pin with a punch.

Here's how to isolate the question to determine whether play is in the paralever bearings or in the final drive. Grab the wheel at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions and have a helper apply the rear brake at the same time. If the wheel has play, then the paralever's pivot bearings are the culprit. If the...

Rrunsin,

You've been poorly advised. Would you break a perfectly good weld and reweld it because some Goldwings had a weld problem?

I'm willing to bet you'll enjoy the ride with a minimum of problems.

Try increasing the preload on the rear shock. This will put a little more force on the front perhaps solving the issue.

Sometimes you'll get a little wobble if your bike is rear loaded such as heavy bags or 2 up and you haven't compensated with additional rear shock preload.

DJ, that's blue Loctite on the bag rails bolts. When you reapply the blue goo, do so on the ends only, maybe 5 mm. Remember there is still blue goo on the threads of the nut on the frame so it will take a bit of effort to rescrew the bolts. I suppose ideally you should remove the adhesive residue fr...

DJ, you do not need to remove the system rails. I've removed the side trim pieces several times without removal of those rails. Remove the two torx screws on the top side and one on the bottom side, this last one requires careful searching but you'll find it. Next you'll pull the forward section of ...

Re: Help needed - Replaced battery, now it won't run right

" Started up strong with the new battery, but...sputtering and low RPM. Did the throttle twist to reset throttle position, but it runs at ~900 RPM with fast idle selected." I brain farted once after servicing the old BMW battery and forgot to reset the computer with identical symptoms that...

The pump is perfectly fine. Just don't run the pump when its not submerged in fuel. The fuel cools the pump.

I first used Mobil 1 brand which I believe is 75-90W. Shifting was still a bit stiff in cold weather. Switching to BMW's synthetic 75-140W and cold shifting was smooth. The difference between the two weights is really amazing.

I still use Mobil 1 75-90W in the rear drive.

I'v always used the tool kit spark plug socket for installing the spark plugs. When the spark plugs are new, you can feel their crush washer compress when you install them. Frankly, unless you're a gorilla, I don't thing you'll over torque the plugs.

Been there, done that. You gotta keep a little pressure on the shift linkage when you shift gears. Sometimes you will feel the shift lever move up just a tad when the clutch engages because the gear engagement wasn't complete. I've had this occur more often with a particular pair of boots that I wea...

szeepezoli, Are you sure that your battery is fully charged? The abs is very sensitve to voltage. First question, do you have brakes operating other than the abs malfuntion? If you do, carefully ride the bike allowing the battery to charge, say maybe 15 minutes. Shut down the engine, and restart bei...

The resetting information that I gave was for resetting the Motronic for engine control, NOT for ABS resetting.
