Re: License Plate Light Replacement?

I know this is an old topic but the license plate light on my 2008 R1200R burned out for the first time recently and I came here and searched the internet looking for what bulb to buy to replace. Here's what I found: BMW Registration Plate Light part# 63267670850 http://parts.bmwmotorcycles.com/a/BM...

Re: R1250R

In searching around for R1250R photos I came up with the below images. I would take this one for a test ride. :D It looks like the comfortable offspring of an R1200S and R1200R. http://i.imgur.com/JBVXq6X.jpg This one looks more on the sporty side, which isn't necessarily bad, but I can't see anywhe...

Re: Dropped Sta-bil round plastic seal thing into gas tank

Thanks for the reply David. I guess my concern would be if this round flat disk seal thing about 1/2 to 3/4 inch in diameter could somehow completely block the screen. Based on your knowledge do you think something like that is possible and if so, how likely?

Dropped Sta-bil round plastic seal thing into gas tank

So I am winterizing my 2008 R1200R because winter finally came to Michigan. I topped off the gas tank and went to pour in some Sta-bil when I noticed the round plastic seal thing (not the cap itself) was stuck to the mouth of the Sta-bil bottle but before I had a chance to upright the bottle and rem...

2. BMW touring windscreen
3. BMW side cases

Honorable mentions:
4. BMW tank bag
5. BMW heated grips
6. Aprilia Tuono mirrors

Re: battery jumper cables...

I bump started my 2008 R1200R in second gear last Wednesday. It was down hill with 2 people pushing, but it did start. I ended up replacing the struggling 3 year old battery when I got home.

Re: Yesterday's storm blew over my bike

Thanks for the replies. Regarding the weather, the forecast was only 30% chance of rain, possibly a thunderstorm, wind less than 10 MPH from the northwest. I came to find out later that an hour before the storm hit the forecast changed to 100% chance of rain, thunderstorm, and winds up to 20 MPH. Wh...

Yesterday's storm blew over my bike

My 2008 R1200R was on the center stand as it bore the brunt of the sustained +70MPH wind gusts that went though south of Detroit yesterday. It almost made it through the storm but unfortunately it was blown over. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it happen with my own eyes from the window. It t...

Re: Why BMW?

Long Way Round - But my Ewan and Charley wet dream ended when I couldn't get a GS rental. They had an R instead and I fell in love the moment I rode away. I've ridden Honda, Harley, and Suzuki but none of them ride anything like a BMW.

I thought the final drive oil change was every 12,000 miles, at least according to the service schedule in front of me.

Re: My bike consistently runs out of gas

Like most, I use the trip odometer on my 2008 R1200R. Personally, I start looking for a gas station when I pass 200 miles.

P.S. Your bike didn't run out of gas, you did. ;)

Re: f800gs mirrors on the cheap

I can also confirm success with the Aprilia Tuono mirrors (part numbers AP8104921 and AP8104922, $25 each) fitted to my 2008 R1200R using two M10 x 1.5 male M10 1.25 female adapters from McMaster-Carr (part number 92499A712, $13.95 each). The rubber sleeve from Aprilia doesn't quite go all the way d...

Re: Coldest Temperature you've ridden you motorcycle in?

32° F is my lower limit. Ice and hypothermia are real dangers where I live. I don't want to ride if I can't feel the wind on my skin.

That was my afternoon too. With rain and below freezing temps predicted through next week today was perfect for a short ride, a wash, a top off, and some Sta-bil for the R1200R and the lawnmower. Think Spring!

I have a tattoo that I don't regret but most everyone I know who has one regrets theirs. If you don't already have one don't get one. Pass the coupon on.
