Goodbye

Here's the last "new" photo I'll be posting, me handing over the keys to the new happy owner who I think will love Roadie the Roadster as much as I did. 103,786 wonderful joy filled and drama free miles, was a little sad today but this bike has a lot of life left in it and needs to be ridd...

Re: R1150R v new R1200R LC

Once again CycleRob bestowing us with his infinite wisdom on everything BMW, an opinion about a bike he doesn't own and hasn't even ridden. Nice trolling. I heard the same speech and story about the F800R forks back in 2012 from him, turns out there's not been any reports of major issues or the worl...

Re: New R1200R!

You're absolutely right. The new coolaid is addicting and intoxicating! I do remember praising how well my 07' with Ohlins handled, I'm still praising how well my 07' handles and am certainly praising how well this new RR handles. The NineT? Not so much, feeling what a bike should feel like in...

Re: Telelever loss

In short, the loss of Telelever on the new bike is a non-issue as far as I am concerned. YRMV. Not a good test in my opinion. You need to test where it really matters, when your braking distance gets worse because of the different concepts: on a bumpy and curvy road under hard braking. Interesting ...

Re: New R1200R!

I'm with Bill, no telelever is not an issue. I've got over 8k actual real world miles on the new R and have pushed it hard for thousands of canyons miles and I don't think for one second this new bike is any less safe than one with tele lever. To say that it won't stop in as short a space on any sur...

Re: Parting Out Sale Feeler Thread

Thank you for the response and PM's.
I had to fly out of town for work suddenly and when I get home this coming week I will start a thread in the For Sale section with photos and prices. I'll reply here too when that thread goes live.

Cheers!

Re: New R1200R!

There's some thoughts in this thread about the new RR and the NineT. http://www.r1150r.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=34038 In short, since the RR-LC came home it's got over 7k miles, the NineT about 600, mostly with Nancy on it and mostly from one trip up the coast... Thumpers are good, everyon...

Re: New R1200R!

On Saturday I went to my dealer for a 42,000 mile service with no intention of buying a new bike. I made the mistake of taking a new 2015 for a test ride. Having read all of Joe's excellent reports on his experience, I was still surprised at how much better the new ones are. The most important diff...

Parting Out Sale Feeler Thread

So I'm thinking about parting out my 07' before I sell it, would anyone be interested in buying/trading some stuff? I'm not listing prices since this is not the For Sale forum, but lets just say in most cases the price would be less than half of retail. I'm just trying to get a feel if people would ...

Re: The R1200R Photo Discussion Thread!

Any chance you'd part with the touring screen before selling? I am considering parting out the 07' and then selling the bike, lookout for a parting out thread. If you are talking about the Z-technik screen hanging on the wall then yes, PM me with an offer. :D Some new action shots from Mu...

Re: LED replacement headlight bulb

I'm pretty sure that the H7 lamps they sell will fit the 08', I tried them on the 15' RR with no luck with not enough room in the new housing. Good news is this company will allow a return if it doesn't fit... very happy with the product. http://www.cyclopsadventuresports.com/H7-3000-lumen-LED-Headl...

Surely yet another depressing example of how this profiteering German manufacturing combine that we're so faithfully wedded to in loyalty is continuously downgrading its component product quality in order to more thickly line its owners' and shareholders' pockets with excessive amounts of loot, so ...

Re: R1200R vs. K1200R

While I obviously don't own a K bike, a good friend has the same year you're talking about and a couple weeks ago we traded so he could check out the 15' RR... I would suggest taking it for a test ride before you buy. My take is it obviously has more power, but it's at the top end of the RPM range a...

Re: The R1200R Photo Discussion Thread!

Three generations of BMW Boxers helping each other out. The 07' had new Pilot Power tires that were getting moved to the new kid on the block R1200R, while the NineT was used to break the beads during the tire swap. Win win for everyone (except the 07' which got the old Z8 tires...) More than likely...

Re: The 2015 Lost R1200R

Thank you celticus and Rrider, that's my favorite photo of the new R and I'm glad you like! Bill, I certainly think that not needing to use the clutch except to get started in first could be very helpful if you're having issues with your hand. Granted, we can already shift without using the clutch o...

Re: The 2015 Lost R1200R

Yeah, the battery is under the seat, though access to it is from the side. The positive terminal on the battery is buried and you need to pull the battery out to get to it, but it's not too hard. BMW installed a positive "jump" terminal right on the outside near the negative post on the ba...
