Re: Hard Case Locking Latch

I went with an aluminum rivet that is just a hair larger than the oem, purchased from a local store. Just need to drill out the old and enlarge the holes.

Re: Remus y-pipe and hard bags: Clearance issue

Just buy an "inner" case rather than the whole bag. Pull the lock core, tap out the pins on the latch hooks, drill the rivets out and the multifunction box pulls right out. Replace the some 11 rivets, pins core and you are ready to roll. Taking your time, you are looking at 30 minutes. I a...

Re: Seapage around oil filler cap

I did the Cyclerob cleaning and it worked well, and before the o-ring were installed, gave the insert and cap a soap bath. This worked well for my 40K miles. A friend has the complete AS unit (insert and cap) and it too works well. Just more than I wanted to spend.

Re: Seapage around oil filler cap

Remove the cap and replace the o-ring, set aside. Stick your finger or two inside the fill hole. There is an insert tube that is connected to the valve cover and it just snaps in and out, you do not need to remove the valve cover. This is what the oil filler cap snaps into. once you get your finger ...

Re: Remus y-pipe and hard bags: Clearance issue

Hope this works out for you. The bag fitment issue gives me a little appreciation for the ZTechnik y-pipe and silencer system... At least that's one thing good about the system. That, and it is what, a portly 1/4 pound!!! I liked that the ZTechnik was a four piece system with springs. With a tube o...

Re: Remus y-pipe and hard bags: Clearance issue

The mounting bracket on the can appears to look like a modified OEM bracket, not the remus mount. Either way it is a PITA fitting the system it was hell figuring a way to keep the mounting point on the bike from digging into the muffler.. The headache was only fully over once I used the HT lowering ...

Re: Remus y-pipe and hard bags: Clearance issue

I had the carbon remus evolution mounted on my rockster and it had the same issue. I purchased a longer mounting bolt and made a spacer (washers would work too) to fit between the mounting brackets on the can and bike frame. The carbon can's mounting bracket is adjustable as well, with the mounting ...

Re: Intro from NH

Nice bike, welcome to the group. You'll have to let us know your impressions of the IICE AIR... I've been following that ADV thread for a long time. I ran the IICE Air for a couple months prior to selling the rockster, then installed it on my friends 1100GS. The rockster ran RS intake tubes, full r...

I had an instructor say that if you rely on a high capacity magazine, you should also file the sights off the gun so that it is easier to pull out once the "bad guy" is done with you.

Re: Pistols

I guess it is time to actually look in the safe! I love the 96F but too large to conceal on my skinny build. That's where the 1911 works well, very slim - and I am also more than happy with the LC9 and LCP. My GP-100 has the 4" and really shoots well, the 6" must be a real nail driver.

Re: Pistols

I've also had a couple hang fires with Federal (as well as an underloaded shotshell that didn't have the power to push the wad out the bore, scary). I like or liked the Remington Peter loads as well as Winchester. Dad and I shoot about 2000 rounds each per year and have not had any issues. I miss th...

Re: Pistols

I agree with staying away from Thunderbolt ammo, I have had a couple rims seperate from the case requiring too much work removing it from the chamber. As for old tech., I stick with the 1911's and MK series beacuse it is proven, as is the woodsman. Point is, read reviews, research, research, researc...

Re: Pistols

Don't count out the Browning Buckmark. It is a pleasure to shoot, and didn't cost an arm and a leg when I bought mine. It comes in many variations. It fires the 22lr round. I was having a moment and cannot believe I forgot the Buckmark, I love this pistol, my camp model is outstanding and probably ...

Re: Pistols

Wow, where to start? The list goes on and on! It is very hard to beat Ruger firearms (like the lcp listed above), they are made in the US, very well priced, over built and they stand behind their product 110% for the life of the gun. They do not list a specific warranty period because theydor not ha...

Re: What is this for???

As DJ said, it is for bleeding the clutch, there is a grub screw in the end and is housed in a foam of sorts and zip-tied out of the way. Pull the grub screw and insert a bleeder and you're good to go for changing the clutch fluid.

Re: gun question

A firearms card? Do not use light loads on a bear, if you are going to shoot in defense, do so with the intent to fataly wound the animal. If not, buy a pellet gun, sling shot, etc. Bears do bluff, but do you have time to call them on it? Do not F with a bear, there is very little margin for error. ...

Re: gun question

Hard to beat the 870 Remington for its price and double slides. Plus 2 barrels will meet all your needs. I would not purchase a semi-auto for defense, and I love my Browning, just not against a bear or person. And no pistol grip for a 12, unless it is a pistol grip on a stock. Very important to shou...
