If your QD's fail you can replace them with a short piece of steel, brass or copper tubing of the appropriate size. Thanks cc. I'll probably do that in the interim. Do you have any recommendations as to what diameter tubing I should buy? The fuel line is 8mm so I used some 5/16ths O.D. tubing. Copp...

It reminds of a commercial that's been played recently: two guys are walking on the sidewalk, they slow down to stare at a car parked on the street. One of the two loudly describes all the cool features the car has and says " see, the owner of this car is THA MAN...". A girl walks past the...

Keith Code has a couple of books where he breaks down the techniques of braking, turning etc. They are called "A twist of the wrist". I go back and read a few chapters every once in a while.

Ditto.
Plus, our brakes pretty grabby, one or two fingers are all it take to make a smooth slow down/stop.

C'mon, there HAS to be an attorney in here somewhere, sound off! Think you'd slide through court by saying it's the dealers fault? Just finished talking to a lawyer about this case scenario. Maybe you got a point Greybeard! BUT. If something were to happen, a rider wold be suspected as having lost ...

I have installed the brass quick dis-connects from SmallParts that ... I have just replaced the fuel filter on my 04 RR and had no trouble with dis-connecting or re-connecting. I did tried those, and they sure swelled as it was impossible with the force of my bare hands to put it back on. I wonder ...

Man O Man, what a scare! Hey, which dealer was that ?? I only tried Honda of Hollywood (a BMW dealer), who BTW service LA police dept. motorcycles, but I found them to be pretty sloppy and expensive. I am doing my own service. I understand you logic about your hourly rate vs a mechanic's, but I real...

I am very familiar with the 2. I know exactly where they sit and wait. The LEOs definately patrol it very heavily because it is an open stretch that invites speeding. Exactly my point. The 2 in that area must be one of the lowest spots in crashes. If the police really meant to enforce safety, they w...

Re: Expected Gas Mileage for 2005 R1150R

I seem to get around 125 miles prior to the low fuel warning light comming on. Similar (32 mpg) riding here in LA, naked! With careful valve adjust went up to 35mpg. A speedster windshield took it up to 37 mpg. Try doing a long ride on a freeway, you should see it go to 40+ mpg, otherwise get it ch...

Find an army surplus store near you. They always have the best quality gear for the outdoors, and some of the lowest prices around. When I go skiing I buy the best socks from there. A lesser quality socks at a ski store go for about 5x the price. Same goes for sleeping bags, long-sleeve t-shirts etc...

I don't know about motorcycles, but I hear that Italian car designers are the best, and car makers from all over the world hire Italian firms to design new vehicles. So, who knows maybe the same person did design both motorcycles !
