Re: Purchased 2004 R1150R yesterday, suggestions neeed

I've an '04 with about 91,000 miles. Love it and a great bike. Let me make a maintenance suggestion. That bike obviously spent a lot of time sitting. Annual ABS system service is a MUST! Involves bleeding the entire system. Not difficult but can be a bit tedious. The iABS system pump (you hear a whi...

Re: Old Fourm members

I've been here a bit. I think I first joined in '03 with my first BMW. I now have an '04 bought in 11/07 after I totaled my '03 with 44K. I now have a bit over 90K. Regular coolant/antifreeze maintenance has insured dependable operation.

Re: Front Caliper Swap Question

Another expert needs to chime in but I'm not so sure that you shouldn't bleed from the pump as well. I long ago pulled my system from my '04 but I remember using the clear fill funnel on the pump and keeping it filled as I bled the system. I'm not certain the front master cylinder fluid supply even ...

Best thing I've found to lessen the gearbox clunk sound in my '04 R is to turn my music up louder.........

You need to first check the antifreeze prior to any TB sync.

Hungry Mother Ride 2018, Marion, Va

It's Hungry Mother time again! August 17-19 at Hungry Mother State Park, Marion Va. This has been a premier destination-camping trip-ride for 15+ years now. Great times with good friends and fantastic roads. I look forward to this each year. Great camping facilities with newly remodeled bath house f...

Re: Starting problem

A simple voltmeter will only read a "no load" voltage. You mentioned in your video the voltmeter on your charger went blank when you switched on ignition. My guess is that your battery is toast. You didn't say how old it was. A small load on the battery and it dropped to basically unreadab...

Re: dual sport tires

Thanks TW, hope to hear more about them next week, please update here. I'll be needing new tires after this weekends 49'r rally. I'll have the Angel GT's worn out and need to get my new tires for our summer trip/adventure. Did about 500 miles since Thursday, I really like the 705's. They seem reall...

Always my favorite each year. I’m doing this from my phone so attaching all the pertinent details is a bit of a chor...

Re: dual sport tires

I've 705's front and rear on my 2004 R. I've about 3K on a front and just mounted a rear last week. I think I'm gonna really like them. i get on the occasional gravel road while out exploring and the standard street rubber left me feeling a bit nervous. The tread blocks are really deep and the front...

Re: BEAKSTER BASH XV LaVale, Md May 16-20, 2018

Obviously I'm not there nor will I make it. I had previously (6 wks ago) agreed to join two friends and ride to the ROC Rally near Knoxville next Thursday. I too late remembered about the Bash and tried to gain tomorrow off as well. Working p/t (3 yrs now) and couldn't get Sat. All the rain we're ha...

Re: Starter replacement Puzzle

Oliver i bought the same starter. It's been doing fine. My bike's covered while it's raining here (3 days now) otherwise I'd go look at the fuel pump wiring. Can't remember if there are two or three wires. Might be a safety there to keep the engine from cranking without fuel. Or you can carefully ju...

Re: Starter replacement Puzzle

You're waiting on a new starter and yet you're trying to crank engine over (old starter?) I'm a bit confused here. Why are you replacing starter? Or I guess I should ask what were the symptoms prior to ordering a new starter? FWIW---I replaced my starter last summer. Found a new starter on Amazon (n...

Re: Front Brake Pad Replacement Question.

I guess I should clarify.....when I say a little bit of drag I mean I can hear the pads lightly rubbing on the rotor(s). But not enough to visibly slow the wheel down if on the center stand and give the wheel a spin.

Re: Front Brake Pad Replacement Question.

Little bit of drag is normal. Mine (04) has always had a slight bit. I've 90K and have never had a issue.
