OEM Mirrors

One of my OEM mirrors seems to have loosened up and sags on its own under way. These are the round black mirrors on a 2002. I saw no set screw, is there a way to tighten the head to prevent this sagging issue?

Re: Crush Washers

JM1515, That is awesome news. I have been on the forum for quite a while, and never realized this. For my benefit, and that of some other members, who may not know, could you describe in a little more detail what it is I am asking for. Are those numbers what designate the washer? Also, is there a de...

Crush Washers

Any fellow Beaksters, who buy the transmission and final drive crushwashers in bulk. I would like to buy enough for my fluid change of both, but shipping is retarded. I will send you a check, and you can just mail them in an envelope. Post me your address and how much. Thanks Michael

Venting

So, I get a reply from a fellow forum member, in regards to my search for a used Sargent seat. Gives me details and price, to which I promptly reply, and reply and reply. Well, you get my drift. Whats up with that? Save that bull for the Harley web page, fellow BMW riders deserve better!!!

Check for overtightened wire ties at the fork neck, just behind the headlight. If noticeable wear or cuts in wiring, make sure you cover yourself for any future problems which might arise. Was a common problem in the 2002 model and others. I have a low miler I bought two years ago and fixed this prob...

As Beemeridian said, be sure to ask for "FUEL INJECTION HOSE" because Autozone tried to sell me a piece of identical looking Vacuum hose even after I had asked for the FUEL INJECTION hose by the Goodyear Part # (SAE J36R9). Fortunately I noticed the error, because the vacuum hose would hav...

Tire Situation

I know that leaning into a corner doing 70mph, I want my thoughts on the road, not on, if a weak spot on my tire is OK. My Pirelli's, and the confidence they inspire, are a big factor in my riding enjoyment. I would'nt sacrifice that feeling, for the price of a new tire!

Re: Cycle Gear, etc.

The local Cycle Gear mounts/balances for $20 per plus valve stem, etc. They charge $10 more per if you didn't buy the tires there. So call it about $70 to mount and balance the two new mail-order tires. Same here, just had my new Pirelli Strada's mounted, balanced, new stems, $70.00. The shop that m...

To Grease or Not To Grease, That Is The Question

Removed the rear wheel from my 2002 R1150R for the first time since it was new. Large amount of corrosion present in hub. Cleaned it up, and planned to coat mating sufaces with a light coat of grease to slow corrosion, and aid in the next wheel removal. Owners manual clearly states to make sure mati...

Hollow Front Axle

Replacing tires on my 2002R, and noticed front axle is hollow from one end to the other. Was going to plug open end to prevent water from reaching trheads of axle nut. Was not sure if open end was designed to cool bearings. Will it hurt to enclose the axle end?

Now this will be perceived as a stupid question; I don't understand the concern about the "breaking of plastic fuel lines". The fuel lines that my QDs are inserted in appear to be rubber. What could go wrong? Thanks. The reference to plastic fuel lines refers to the jet black and shiney p...
